✨️ Sometimes Obedience Looks Like Letting Go

One of the hardest lessons obedience taught me was that God will sometimes ask you to release what feels familiar before He reveals who you truly are.

There was a moment in my faith journey when God told me to throw my wig, my designer bag, my Blackberry, and cash out the window. Naturally, it made no sense.
But God was doing something deeper than removing possessions. He was confronting the parts of me that still leaned on image, independence, self-reliance, and control.
Those items represented more than things. They symbolized comfort, familiarity, and the version of myself I had learned to manage life through. By obeying God, I was forced to depend on Him in a deeper way.

💡 Here’s the wisdom:
Sometimes obedience is not about what you must do — it’s about what you must release.
What feels like loss may actually be divine repositioning.

God may be stripping what is familiar so He can establish something greater in you.
Looking back, I now understand this truth:
God never asks for obedience to harm you. He asks for it to establish you.

📌 So today, ask yourself:
What has God been asking me to release?
What part of my identity have I tied to possessions, appearance, or control?
What fear, resistance, or habit must I surrender so God can establish me more deeply?

Your knowledge of God’s Word and your willingness to challenge me to get it right helped me overcome obstacles and grow in my ability to rightly apply Scripture.”

Pastor Michael J. - “Reverend Bell is truly a gifted, trained, and anointed servant of God-one who handles the Word with integrity, demonstrates sound biblical interpretation, and exemplifies excellence in sermon preparation and delivery. I cannot say enough about my girl @iamdrstephanielynn We have seen each other through good times and bad. We have cried together, laughed together, handled business together, and partied together. One thing stands true about her...she is a TRUE friend indeed! Steph, I wish you a blessed birthday, filled with abundant peace and love!!! Love you, Boo!

Somehow Chad Brawley is 50!!! Happy Born Day Bro. YOU OL…un…mature. 👀😏😂

What a time to celebrate my big (JERK) bro, and to see so much of my Houston family. Dallas 1000% raised me. Houston said, “now we’ll make a man out of you”, and I couldn’t put it any better. So many pictured grew up right alongside me into adulthood. Lot of good people I still consider family to this day.

Jessica, Mike, Pat…how do we not follow each other but are Fb friends? TRAGIC! Hahaha (couldn’t tag ya as a result)

Last year marked the inaugural Pearly Awards @pearlyawards in Houston, and we were honored to present the Pearl Award (Lifetime Achievement) to the iconic TC Carson. His acceptance speech wasn’t just memorable — it was masterful. With conviction and heart, he challenged us all to rise higher, dig deeper, and continue the legacy of service and excellence.

He reminded us that while it may be 2024, we reflect back on the purpose of the Divine Nine.

As members of the Divine Nine, the charge isn’t new — it’s renewed.
That’s why @majoritygreek created the Pearly Awards, founded by Dr. @antoinneduanejones — to uplift and honor those Greeks who are still getting into Good Trouble… Necessary Trouble.

Let’s honor the past and keep pushing forward — because for such a time is NOW.
Do what you can… and soon, do what you must.
