teaching editing at @csssa_schoolforthearts while getting schooled on pop culture by 17 year olds for a whole month has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. these kids are so evolved and brave and i feel fiercely protective about their voices, so original and way ahead of its time.

for comparison, the last picture is me when i was their age

thank you @yasminexyy614 for being the best TA ever!

CSSSA 2026 is over!

What a journey. What a ride. ♥️🎥🇺🇸
Still in my heart, always. And I know there is so much more to come.

Deeply grateful to our incredible partners across the industry — including @theacademy, @goldenglobes, @am_cinematheque, @filmcalifornia, @westwoodvillage and @sonypictures.

I want to THANK MY AMAZING FACULTY, because this beautiful journey would have been impossible without you. Not only are you the best at what you do, but damn… you’re just so cool!

I truly could not have asked for a better team on this journey!

Thank you for your incredible support, your love, your patience, and for bringing your talent and energy to this program. I feel so lucky to have shared this experience with all of you.

And thank you to ALL my students. ♥️

Don’t ever forget that I’ll always be there for you. I can’t wait to be there in the audience, clapping my hands when you win your first Oscar. I’m already there in my mind. 🥹🏆

We’ll meet again soon!

Love you all, and thank you for everything. ♥️

this past month has definitely been both the longest and shortest of my life, it felt like 2 weeks and a year all at once. i have met so many incredibly talented people not only in this department, but across all 8, and for me that has been the most beautiful part of this experience, the connections everyone has made. i wanna say thank you to pietro for bringing together such an large and diverse group of wonderful people to be our mentors, you have all made such a huge impact on not only mine, but im sure all of our lives. i look up to you all, you are so inspiring and supportive, and youve truly made this summer unforgettable, i thank you for sharing your own experiences with us, and giving us so many new ones at the same time. you guys have truly shown me that i CAN do it. i also want to say thank you to all my peers, i have learned just as much from you guys as i have from them, everyone here has had such different experiences throughout their lives and have so many unique stories to tell, and i’ve enjoyed getting to know all of you, even if we didn’t speak much. we’re all here for the same reason, we want to make an impact, whether that be politically, socially, emotionally, or just wanting to make someone laugh. film, and all the arts in general, are some of the most unifying and powerful things we have on this planet. a year ago, i wanted to be a tattoo artist, but at the beginning of my senior year, right around college apps time, i realized that i could do this thing i loved for a living, and honestly, since then, i haven’t been able to see myself doing anything other than this, and now im leaving in two months to go study it. the arts have changed my life for the better. this program is long, vigorous, and exhausting, but how lucky are we to be so exhausted by the things we love most? csssa might have only lasted a month, but we’ve made friendships that will last a lifetime, and i will forever be grateful to have had this opportunity, and i can’t wait to see how far each and every one of you go.

thank you to all those who made this possible

Finished shooting that movie this weekend. I always tell my students that since filmmaking is very, very hard work, they should try to do it with people they love. Whatever becomes of this project, I've never felt happier or more supported - especially in the awful times we're battling now, this was, for me, everything artmaking should be: liberating and joyful and difficult and personal, a few days to feel what it's like to band together and try to make something worth that effort. I can't thank these lovely, crazily talented people enough.
