TCS WATERFRONT HALF 💖

What a gorgeous day to cap off the race season.

It was this exact race 2 years ago that got me in to running so it really gets me in my feels to think about the progress I’ve made since then. I finished that race in 1:58, almost 30 minutes slower than this time, wild.

My cheeks hurt from smiling. The weather, the cheering & energy in the city, how my body felt, PBs for all of my friends, it was one of those days where everything aligned perfectly.

Congrats to everyone that ran 🎉

Behind The Rep: Let’s get a strong deadlift 🔥 Ep. 3

If deadlifts are hurting your back, the movement isn’t the enemy it’s your technique… strip it back, perfect your technique then add load later.

Give this a go ⬇️

1. Walk up to the bar so the bar is mid foot - roughly across your shoe laces. Feet underneath your hips.
2. Reach down with long arms until you can wrap your hands around the bar.
3. Move your shins to bar. Don’t roll the bar into your shins, this creates movement which will throw off your bar path.
4. Squeeze armpits to hips. This will activate your lats and create tension in your posterior chain. Don’t roll your shoulders “back and down”. Think of a lemon under your armpit and make some lemonade with that shit!
5. Take the slack out of the bar so you aren’t yanking the bar off the floor. You’re not trying to lift the bar during the slack-taking phase. You’re building tension so that when the plates leave the floor, there’s no sudden jerk or wasted movement.
6. Whole foot pressure, not just in your heels or just in your toes, WHOLE FOOT!
7. Crown of your head to the roof.
8. Big breath in, brace (rib to hip connection), push the world away and stand tall, hips coming through for full hip extension.

Save this for your next deadlift day! 📲🙏🏼
