This Mother's Day I wanted to take a moment to honor the mums in Gaza. The mums I know and those I don't. Each nurturing a universe while the world around her collapses. Each trying her best to make every moment special for her loved ones.

Then there are mothers who lost their children and children who have lost their mothers. There are families separated by forced distances and families in exile.

Each story in Falasteen is different from the other. They all face unique challenges because of the unspeakable circumstances enforced upon them.

So what can we do?

What can we do to show our solidarity?

Solidarity is a verb. We need to channel it in our actions through boycotts and divestments. We must also continously support families through consistent donations.

Meet our herbal tea blends 🌺🥰

I began crafting nourishing womb-centric herbal tea after my miscarriage in 2018, to deeply nourish my womb, balance hormones, and support my healing. Since then these blends have held both myself and many women in my community through loss, pregnancy, postpartum, and many moon cycles.

Over the years I have honed and perfected the blends, providing them for women in my community, family, and mothers whom I walk beside in pregnancy & postpartum. They are tried, tested, and loved!

Now, I’m making them available in small batches for the wider community. When you purchase my herbal tea, you are supporting a mother-owned and mother-led small business based on Whadjuk Noongar Boodja, WA.

Rewaa and Muhammad have three young children. Rewaa is an agricultural engineer and beekeeper who loves nature. The family is currently displaced in the South. They have lost everything and have to restart life from scratch. Our collective contributions to their family, no matter how small, can make a huge difference 🐝

#peacetober2025 : Family

25 families.
25 stories

They are not numbers, but living breathing miracles who surivived a genocide. Each with hopes, dreams and infinite potential.

And while the ceasefire has commenced, most of them have lost everything and have to start from scratch. Many are debating whether to stay or find a way to evacuate.

They are tired but still hopeful.

I am blessed to know their stories and befriend a few of them via Coffees for Gaza.

What is @coffeesforgaza?

It is a creative mutual aid group amplifying the fundraising campaigns of 25 families in Gaza. It started out as a initiative that encouraged people to skip takeaway coffees every week and donate directly to a different family instead.

The collective grew and so did the urgent needs of the families in Gaza. The Open Collective is a transparent platform that makes easier to collect mass micro donations via monthly subscriptions. One can send one-time donations too, dependint on whatever they find feasible.

CFG tries to cook up various fundraising initiatives to counter "donor fatigue" and encourage people to support direct mutual aid. This is done through online fundraisers, draw-along sessions, solidarity shop and @tabkhabook.

Our extended community is equally supportive. They go on marathons, host special fundraisers, and share their monthly profits.

At the heart of all these actions are the twenty five families in Gaza who we have formed a kinship with since May 2024.

This is inspired by @rewaa_96 and her three children Maria, Tia and Ali. Rewaa is a beekeeper and used to raise bees and produce honey before the g3noc1de destroyed her livelihood. But one day Rewaa’s bees will return to G❤️za, and the flowers will bloom again.

Dear Friends,

We have some critically URGENT NEEDS FAMILIES who need promotion and support. We invite creatives to generate promotional media to help them with their immediate needs, and we invite anyone to create fun-draisers to help them.

While trying to raise the amount needed to relocate @acc.abdullah_ziad and his family couldn't leave fast enough, and their 5 year old son Amir was injured when a wall fell on him last week. They have spent everything they raised on emergency room care. They need to leave the area they are in before it is too late, replace all their belongings, and pay for medical care. Please help them.

@abdalhade_jafarawi can barely afford food and now needs to secure shelter and essential items. Please help promote their campaign.

@anasibrahem890 urgently needs to purchase a tent and food for 13 family members. Please help him raise the amount needed which exceeds 1,000GBP.

@skaikameera urgently needs to raise funds for a tent and all the supplies required for living in one. They need to relocate as soon as possible.

@rewaa_96 has not had a successful campaign and relies on our donor community to eat. The cost of relocating is far beyond her capacity without help.

All our families are in stages of forced relocation. All of them need thousands of dollars each. We are assisting with the costs of relocation as much as we are able, but the need is greater than we are able to provide. Every single piece that hangs on my walls has a story.

This one depicts three Palestinian children: Ali, Tia, and Maria. Their mother Rewaa was an apiarist, and their father Mohammed a doctor at Al-Shifa hospital. Like so many in Gaza, they have been lost everything they owned and have been displaced time and time again.

This lovely woodblock print of Ali, Tia, and Maria is by the award-winning Australian illustrator @marinazart, and it’s available to those who make a donation to Rewaa’s GoFundMe.

I’m glad to have it hanging on my wall, and I really wanted to share both the art and the campaign with you in case you wanted to join me in supporting this family.
