Vitruvian woman. Vitruvian man. Perfect ratios. Proportions.

Working within the bounds of my own body, I trust it. Knowing, that my arcs echo the ratios seen in the scene. I give over to the rhythm of my own pivot. I work knowingly from my own angles. Find the connection to flow in my breath, following the looped sound of my scrapes against tide, here with the rising sun. The painting finds its timeline. Yet the leaning in is not yet done. Carry me it says. Sign me. Move me now. So it becomes wings, a hood, a cloak over my head a swoosh around my body. I am enveloped. I am covered. I am painted. I am. Here, triumphant amongst the bluebells. Tall like a tree. Tired like a canopy. My arms are high, the painting flows, it catches the wind in throws. Heroic, my belly tightens, my pride warrior like glows. I skip through the trees that soon become jungle, I catch the painting on spikes and ferns, I laugh as I disappear in my multicoloured gown.

When the tide rose over the canvas, the letting go happened. Faster this time. A shock. Piercing pause. Cold water to the heat in my body from the rapid movements, from the arching arms, outreached legs. Seaweed tumbled in. Canvas saturated, safe. Seaweed, sand and then a sandfly, hopping about the colour, exploring new territory.

This new horizon, a gaiety, a joy to work on, in laughing disbelief, in truth, in knowing the wonderfully ridiculous nature of it all. I work in wide smiling strokes as the sun belts out the morning.

The first sunrise witnessed outside of my home for a year and a half, the first morning missed Mothering. I could kneel in painterly praise indefinitely, pushing and pulling the time, expanding the morning. I paint and move and work to connect with the landscape and light I can see; that envelops me and this canvas.

Vulnerability, revelation, dynamism:

Private yet Bold.

With my work, there is a private experience that I go through in its creation, in its journeying back to the studio, afterwards. Yet the act itself is bold. The boldest.

Here I am, my secrets laid around me, I have undone the threads of the modern world and moved into my language of colour, of connection into the delicious underbelly of the velvet moss, I am exhausted mush; delighted, exposed, vulnerable.

This portrait, taken after these exact moments: says it all.

The canvas is exposed, the sea rushes over it, the pebbles tumble over it, I kneel and stand over it.

It's ok to be Bold and Private. They can go together.

Perform. Ritual. Play. Solo. Alone.
Watched. Together. Now.

Through the lens.

The beauty of Degas' painted dancers, is one I hold in my mind's eye often. The encapsulated magic of a performer, behind the scenes, caught in the light. Moving for self. Moving for quiet purpose. Moving for the moment.

Are you actively seeing through? Can you feel the pieces? The warmth from the rising sun transforming the deep dark and white sky to hyper-colour; where the water is lit in tumbles of delicious light. They lollop on the incoming tide, springing heat onto the echoes of the outgoing winter.

Very proud of my brilliant and talented dear friend Chloe Tinsley. She has put on an exhibition at Trebah Gardens which showcases some of her work over the last couple of years. It portrays colourful yet sensitive impressions of some of my favourite places in Cornwall and Scotland.

The Colour Bath, Safe Haven in Vibrance - Chloe Tinsley. The exhibition ends 14th May but her studio is nearby and has some real gems in the original or print version. Definitely worth having a look!

I went to @trebahgarden today to see my lovely friend’s exhibition. We had a beautiful walk through the garden, enjoyed all the colours and textures and sounds and then went to bath in the Colour Bath of Chloe’s brilliant and joyous work. You’ll have to watch through till the end to see my favourite painting….

Happy Valentine’s Day to all you gorgeous folks out there! Remember what it’s all about. Love & Laughter! I wish I was able to post more than 10 pics in a carousel so that I could fit more of my wonderful couples in but this is just a snippet of deliciousness. I do honestly love you all! Before and after 💫. Decorating the bedroom has taken a little longer than expected as it required moving the central (and often sparking) fuse box from beside the bed 😂.

We wanted an easy natural tone and landed on “Wheatgrass” by @crownpaintsuk - it’s soft and calming with a chalky matt finish. There are a few pops of colour inspired by the painting above the bed - a Cornish beach scene by the incredible @rewildingchloe 💕.

The brass Art Deco bamboo lamps were a splurge from the local antiques shop in Yoxford… and their cost was offset by the mid-century bedside tables which were £4 the pair at auction 😁. They need a crafty up-cycle but their proportions are 👌.

Our dream cane sleigh bed was an @ebay_uk win; the make is @willis_gambier 🛌. As are the two @johnlewis clothes racks which make up our wardrobe for the time being.

Padding out the home piece by second-hand piece is a slower process but we’re finding it to be very rewarding and feel lucky to be able to take things slow 🙏.

How wonderful to be able to have local plein air artist Chloë Tinsley as our first official client as we launch Kernow Repro.

I always love photographing Chloë's work because (aside from her being a bleddy good egg) I know it means I can get a sneak peek at her latest work which is always a real treat.

We use professional studio lighting to ensure perfect colour reproduction - this is crucial as we didn't want to lose any of the vibrancy that is a common feature of Chloë's paintings.

I am learning more and more that putting creativity at the heart of everything we do is how we cultivate a life full of joy and fulfilment.

Still a little time to buy yourself a painting or print - to bring life, soul and the magical energy of the wild landscape, translated through the intuitive eyes of this beautiful being I am so blessed to have as my sister - into your space.... before she turns her attention to the imminently arriving life within🤰🏼🧚🏼‍♀️
