Comedian @rexnava is performing in Seattle this Friday night at the @filipinocommunityofseattle to benefit @filam.educators.wa! I’ll be providing the musical vibes for the night. Link to tix in my bio!

I first met Rex in 1998 as a college student at the UW when we brought him (and @pinaymusic) to perform at the annual @fasasauw Filipino Night. I supported and attended future shows several years after that. At that time a domino effect was happening that helped define my identity as a Filipino living in America, and Rex’s jokes made me feel more comfortable to laugh at the nuanced things that are both funny and sad about my culture.

Lots of things have been coming full circle this year and this event for me (and likely for many others) will feel like a throwback - kinda like this photo, circa 2003-2004, with Rex and @3rdandresen in the southend. Fitting because that Taco Bell behind us is now a Jollibee 😂🇵🇭

For the record: 🎶 Martin sings. 🎭 Rex is the funny one. We think.

Happy Filipino History Month, Pittsburgh! The Concert King and thee OG Pinoy Comedian are headlining this Sunday night, 10/18, at the Circuit Center, and I’m hosting, which mostly means keeping these two from switching jobs again. 😋

Don Mike Mendoza, my dear friend and general manager, put this whole weekend of gala and concert together, and I couldn’t be more grateful to bear witness to the incredible Filipino All-Star lineup he’s brought to Pittsburgh.

Sunday, October 18. 7 PM. The Circuit Center, 5 Hot Metal St.

We ARE very excited for Saturday’s Fil-Am PGH Gala, but it really is actually sold out. Buuut Sunday’s concert still has seats available!

🚨🌟 VIP tickets get you the first 3 ROWS, AAAND a meet and greet with our headliners BEFORE the show.

And you heard me right. Titas, ninongs, kuyas, ates, bring the whole pamily! 🇵🇭 Tayo na! 🎉

Tickets at FILAMPGH.org, or link in bio.

Rex in effect! 🐹📫🤣

Don’t sleep on PDX solidarity. Filipinos live by the collective and that’s evident when we spoke to Comedy Icon Rex Navarrete when he visited New Jersey. ✊🏽

Musician Talilo featured a cameo of Rex on his video for “Umaga” with Nump and we had to ask about it. 🎶📦🤪

Hear more about Rex and what he thinks about his status as a pioneer as a Filipino comedian and more in this interview with Future Ancestors. 🗣️

Check out the audio version with Rex Navarrete where you find your podcasts now! Best way to find us is logging on to www.futureancestors.tv!

Big shout out to The Studio Ligaya, Mari Mallari and Rex for allowing us to have this conversation! @thestudioligaya @mariteslol.co
