U74 Debut Part 2

SG Local Meet
Statera Powerlifting Open '25

11th PL meet recap

Squat: 220x/225x/225
Bench: 112.5/117.5/120
Deadlift: 250/270/275
Total: 620kg
Bw: 69.9
GLP: this means no sht.

8th March I signed up mainly because the venue is a 5min walk from my workplace. Means I got my own private 🚽

11th March National Qualifying Total was up for the u74kg (from 590 to 620kg), which was in good timing because we had a goal to train for.

Was forced to perform well since my coach @rgdebuque flew all the way from Venice Grand Canal 🇵🇭 just to handle us in the meet.

This meet was the most fun we had as a team. Team Jollibee PL SG

I'm more amazed at how I handled my emotions, given these unexpected turn of events. It really does take time to learn how not to give a sh*t and just keep lifting.

Calls were made. It's all part of the game. The lesson? Always be prepared for the worst and keep your composure.

I spoke to the volunteer refs after the event and asked for credible advice on what I could’ve done better. They were very supportive! Always remember that powerlifting is a small community—eventually, most of us will know each other. It's always better to lift each other up and support one another to keep progressing.

Today made me realize that I should take the next referee course, not just to learn more about the sport, but to contribute more to this community of lifting meatheads.

Aimed for 800 but came up short. Still, I'm happy with my performance, especially during this rehab and recovery phase. Most importantly, I now hold the National Open Records in the 82.5kg, 90kg, and 100kg classes.

Big thanks to everyone who made this prep the most fun and chill one so far. Shoutout to my team, the @gymtroverts.ph community, and my coach @rgdebuque who kept adjusting my training based on the pain I was feeling, maybe its a sign of aging haha. Also, huge thanks to @philippinepowerlifting for organizing the event. Next goal is the 75kg weight class.

After months of relentless training and nine intense final lifts, the University of the Philippines Powerlifting Team stood tall and unshaken against the strongest contenders across all weight classes.

With unwavering courage and perseverance both on and off the platform, our lifters have carved their legacy into the 2025 SBD Nationals, held last February 19–21, 2025.

A massive congratulations to all our incredible athletes for their outstanding achievements! We also extend our pride and excitement to those who boldly stepped onto the platform early in their powerlifting journey — this is only the beginning!🔥

As powerlifting in the Philippines rises — UP is surely right at the forefront.
