🥊 WHITTIER LOCALS | FIGHTER SPOTLIGHT 🥊

Meet Amanda Saldaña Nila! 🏆

My name is Amanda Saldaña Nila. I was born in Bellflower but raised in Whittier my entire 23 years of life. Growing up, I didn’t always appreciate Whittier, but today I couldn’t be prouder to call it home. From Uptown’s hidden gems to the beautiful hiking trails, Whittier has shaped who I am.

🥊 MY JOURNEY
My dad introduced my sisters and me to martial arts when I was just 4 years old. I started with karate before transitioning into Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai. Soccer was my first passion, but at 18, I rediscovered fighting thanks to my older sister Sasha, who encouraged me to give it a shot. I instantly fell in love, and that passion has only grown stronger.

🏆 MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS
I’ve competed in approximately 15 Muay Thai fights, 5 boxing matches, and 10 Jiu-Jitsu matches. I’ve earned 5 championship belts in California and a gold medal representing Team USA at the WBC Muay Thai tournament in Bangkok, Thailand.

Winning gold was incredible, but having my mom and sisters there to witness it meant more than any medal ever could. Family is everything to me.

💪 DISCIPLINE & CHALLENGES
I’m not motivated every day, but discipline keeps me going. My dream is to become a champion in ONE Championship or the UFC.

One of my biggest challenges was overcoming an unhealthy relationship with food and struggles with my weight. Through dedication, proper nutrition, and lifestyle changes, I learned the importance of respecting my body.

My advice to young girls? Put yourself first, respect your body, and never give up on yourself.

🔥 WHAT’S NEXT?
Right now, I’m focused on becoming the best fighter I can be. My older sister and coach, Sasha Saldaña Nila, guides my journey and helps determine when I’m ready for my next fight.

I don’t have a fight scheduled yet, but I’m always working toward that championship dream!

Thank you to everyone supporting my journey. I’m proud to represent my hometown!

Trivia question: Who won the first women’s fight in SSP Muay Thai history?
That would be @socal_nhc September 5th, 2026!
Both Monique and Kylah threw caution to the wild and had @the_compound_la crowd on their feet! Great fight to both of you, and congratulations Monique.
