I want to share a huge thank you to everyone that came out on Saturday for the first annual Shoot Out at the Shire! TactiCloak™ and @rhinoforge hosted the event put on by @pillager_defense and @modtacproductions . This event brought together a bunch of local firearms industry vendors for an afternoon and evening of shooting, networking and sharing! For me the most impressive thing was the .50 cal suppressor that @tbac_suppressors had on hand! It was hearing safe, softened the recoil impulse and allow me to spot my impacts at only 250 yards! And it only weight 4lbs!😳 Unreal, thanks Ray and Sam!! The other impressive things were the @iray_usa thermal optics!! After the sun went down, those thermals were letting shooters hit steel at 250 yards in pitch black!! Thanks for letting everyone try them out Jason!! Huge thanks to everyone who hung out, enjoyed the burger burn and networking opportunities! There was even a sighting of John @_shooter_rughi_ and his little pupper!! Really nice to meet you and get to hang out!! Last but not least thanks to all the people who wore TactiCloaks™ around all day! It was great seeing them all over the place!! See you next year!!

Nic From @rhinoforge on the hip while getting yard work done today: this hardworking veteran made bushcraft knife has gotten the job done every time it’s come out in the last few years of duty. I first met Nic on the set of Forged In Fire and immediately knew I wanted to own a piece of his work. As bladesmiths we put a part of who we are into our knives and if you’ve ever met Nic you know what I mean . #bladesmith #customknife #handforged #brothersinbladesmith #forgedinfire #madeintheusa #veteranmade #americanmade #americancraftsmanship #artist #functionalart

Field testing equipment…

The only way to know if your equipment is good is to practice with it multiple times and pressure test it. No wiz bang reviews as of yet.

Still getting acquainted.

Get Outside. Go Practice.

Blanket Pack variation, no frame. Testing new equipment out in the mountains.

Discussion with my hiking partner. So while he is extremely familiar with his pack setup and can get his gear set to the gram, I tend to rotate styles and test many different combinations of gear. One leads to a great flow state and knowing your equipment well. One leads to a broader understanding of what can work, and what doesn’t work well.

Two different approaches. We both end up with good times on the trails, along the river side, and the mountains.
