Another trip around the sun, spent exactly where I love to be. Family, friends, horses, fresh mountain air, the Sheridan Rodeo, fly fishing, polo, and the unforgettable Event at Rebecca Farm. Couldn’t have asked for a better way to celebrate another year.

I may not have picked Golden Tempo to win the Derby… but I was still a winner 🏇✨

Huge thank you to @shelbybonnie and @kkpellegrino for the unforgettable surprise invitation to Derby 152 — getting to experience it all again with my Virginia crew was icing on the cake 🎂🥂

Anyone who knows me knows there’s nothing I love more than horses, dressing up, and soaking in the very best Kentucky has to offer with the people I love ❤️

Feeling beyond lucky to have done all the Derby festivities again this year… already counting down to the next one! 🎩🌹🐎

Whoa, Lordy — in case you missed it, I’m 40.

I’ll admit, I’ve had a few “Am I really this old?” moments leading up to this birthday. Saying goodbye to your 30s feels like closing the chapter on your youth — or so they say. But the truth? I probably deserve a lot worse.

My 20s were a wild ride. My 30s? A mess, honestly. I made more wrong turns than I care to count and a whole lot of bad decisions — with no one to blame but myself. But every misstep led me here.

And where I am now? It’s the best I’ve ever been.

I haven’t touched a drink or drug in over two years. I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m building the career I’ve always wanted. I’m back in the saddle — literally — doing what I love. My hair hasn’t gone gray (or gone anywhere, for that matter). My eyesight’s still 20/20. And most importantly, I’m surrounded by friends and family who love me for exactly who I am. I feel good. I look good. And I’m grateful every day.

To celebrate this milestone, I took a trip with seven of my closest friends to my parents’ home in Big Horn, Wyoming. We hiked, rode horses, fly fished, hit the rodeo, watched high-goal polo, and partied like it was 1985. It was the perfect way to mark the start of this new decade — surrounded by laughter, love, and lifelong friends. Huge thanks to my incredible parents for being the ultimate hosts and making it all so special.

So to anyone out there reading this:
I’m James Daniel.
I’m 40.
And I’m thriving.
