Last year I decided that the five collection I was creating and the constant output was wearing me thin. I wasn’t enjoying my work and the world which I had created as an escape from the noise and crap from the outside world.
This place, which I had established nearly twenty five years ago was being littered with other voices and demands and voices and needs. What and why I was creating was being tarnished and I felt like I was working towards a system and industry that I no longer related to.
So for the first time I’m my career I decided to slow down. To consolidate the collections I was creating to twice a year. Two solid collections whereas I could explore ideas fully and fall in love with what I was creating. And have time for other passion projects.
Falling in love with my work has always driven it. And probably why I put so much pressure on it, myself and the people I work with.
So this collection which combines prefall and winter 2023 was the first test for us all.
We will be launching it next month and I can say I’m happy. Happy to share it. To have created and worked with people who have been part of my story inside and out. To re state my need to create work I truly love. I hope you will find love in it too. #TM. #MATICEVSKI
