On Tuesday, February 4, the Akron Choirs had the pleasure to sing with a number of high school students from Ohio at the 2025 UA Invitational Vocal Choral Festival.

This year’s theme was “She Writes, We Sing: Celebrating Music from Women Composers”. The day ended with a glorious concert of repertoire composed by women and performed by the UA Concert Choir, UA Chamber Choir, Massillon Washington Advanced Choir, Chardon Chorale, and the Festival Choir.

We were so happy to have gotten to sing with all of the students. We were especially thankful to Massillon Washington High School, Chardon High School, West Branch High School and their directors for bringing their choirs.

There were sessions for the high school directors throughout the day, as well as, information from admissions, and a performance by Rhythm and Roos A Cappella, The Co-Ed A Cappella group on campus!

Thank you to Choral Staff (Trent Schlabach and Sabrina Wolf), choir volunteers, graduate assistant Lydia Nall, Professor Mickey McGroarty, Dr. Frank Ward and especially Dr. Laurie Lashbrook for helping to put this event together!
