MORNING MOVES! After closing its Lincoln Heights cafe in late 2025, @arrozandfun_la is back in action — because it’s now rolled into sibling restaurant @chifa_la in Eagle Rock. Arroz & Fun is heading up Chifa’s new daytime service, which starts at 7am and offers a mix of items new and old, plus WiFi if you feel like working from one of the city’s most stylish dining rooms. The family cafe blends its founders’ Taiwanese, Peruvian, Chinese and Salvadoran heritages for items like the signature bolo bao breakfast sandwich, which piles egg, cheese, hash brown and Salvadoran chorizo onto a pineapple bun. But new items involve vanilla-and-Thai basil lattes, curry noodles, pepper shrimp bowls, a house-made chicha morada syrup that’s paired with espresso and soda, and more. Glad to see it back! You can read a lil more about it in last week’s @latimesfood news column 🫡

Four major influences in my life got together last night: my wife Rica; Robert Ronus who mentored Rica, me and countless others at Capital Group; my Sigma Chi Fraternity Brothers; and our “4th child” James. We had a great time and also got to witness another Dodger pennant plus a once in a lifetime performance from Ohtani-San. Brother Rich Lee showed up on NY time. I am blessed.

新年快乐蛇年如意❣️🐍

I had the most amazing time photographing @chifa_la’s lunar new year celebration for @bonappetitmag —watching @popowendy cook up a feast reminded me of all the times I helped my grandma prep for reunion dinner, a process that took literally days. Thank you to the Leon family for welcoming us wholeheartedly, and for feeding us so well! I nearly cried eating @popowendy and @runklerue’s black pepper lobster, which tastes like a cross between chilli crab and cacio e pepe. It was an honor to spend the day with you and to attempt to capture the love you share 🍊🍊🧧

I was heartbroken to hear that John and Rica lost their home in the fires. If you’re in LA, please consider supporting them by dining at @chifa_la and @arrozandfun_la! The food is truly delicious, and the company is wonderful ❤️
