ART IN TRANSIT - THE EXPERIENCE OF ELSEWHERE

The exhibition brings together works by nine international contemporary artists.

Inspired by John Dewey’s Art as Experience, the exhibition foregrounds the lived encounter with art as a transformative practice - one that extends beyond representation and reorients our way of being in the world.

Unfolding at the intersection of experience, exile, relation, ecology, and the archive, Art in Transit: The Experience of Elsewhere becomes a space of encounter in which memory is activated, relation and belonging are continuously renegotiated, and imagination opens up new ways of understanding, new modes of being in the world, and the possibility of imagining alternative futures.

HAMBURG ART WEEK: CROSSING CURRENTS

Marasanja - Gamelan Concert

Swara Bruwang (Sound of the Bear) is a musical ensemble that performs Gamelan Gadhon. For their performance at THE SPACE //, Swara Bruwang will present two major works from the classical Central Javanese repertoire.

The exhibition and the accompanying public program are made possible through the generous support of the Rudolf Augstein Foundation, the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft and private donations.
