Them: How do you do it all?

Me: I don’t

And the older I get, the less interested i am in trying to.

There are people (some in these pics and some not) that are behind so many of the things I get to do and do extremely well!

People who show up.
Who share the load.
Who love my children.
Who cheer loudly.
Who challenge me,
Who make the introduction.
Who say, “Go, I’ve got this.”

My husband. My family. My friends. My community.

We talk so much about becoming the best version of ourselves as though becoming is an individual project. But really I’m convinced that possibility is relational.

The people around us can expand our capacity, expose us to things we hadn’t considered, help us access rooms we could trench alone, listen and create space for our healing.

And sometimes see possibility for us before we can see it for ourselves.

So no, I don’t do it all.

I have a village.

And building that village might be one of the most important things I’ve ever done. 🤎

WHAT A YEAR!

It has been one full year since I moved to @yorkulions and it has been an incredible journey of positive & challenging moments that all culminate into one thing: GROWTH

Listening, reflecting, empathy, mentorship & narrative have been instrumental in my own growth this year and together with the incredible team that we have at York we’re enhancing the overall culture day by day.

Upon reflection and with the help of mentors I have come to learn that I practice optimism with the understanding that nothing is perfect. We compromise, we win, we lose, we agree to disagree, we empathize, we listen and recognize we still have LOTS of work to do.

Do not be fearful of moments of disappointment or failure as they will happen, do not let them overcome your values or character. Begin to create those small positive improvements and they will stack up, and always believe that in every situation there is a very bright & shining light at the end of the journey regardless of the path.

Incredibly thankful to our team at York, Steven Chuang Peter Mumford Art McDonald Bart Zemanek Mandy McCurdy Andrea Prieur Nathan Groenveld Catherine Salole, our coaches, and our entire support staff day by day we’re uplifting one lion at a time!

Incredibly thankful to our student-athletes who since I joined have been nothing but welcoming, impressive and positively challenging the paradigm. Their collective positive spirit and determination to be better each day inspire me to match it!

Incredibly thankful for all of the great mentors that have enter my life this year and who have absolutely held me accountable, Karen, Marc Trestman @thejttsui . And to the ones who helped me get to where I am today Jesse Tipping Jarel Cockburn Adam Hoffman. And of course the one and only @milicavukm

Personally, many incredible and not-so-incredible moments happened this year, but the not-so-incredible ones have led to such great reflection, positive direction and light at the end of that tunnel!

Continue to love & embrace the challenge and it will reward you! Year 2 loading!
