✨ L’Orfeo at Glyndebourne Festival Opera ✨

We’ve just opened this beautiful new production at @glyndebourne Festival Opera and it’s already being so well received! Returning to work at Glyndebourne with a new team of creatives has been a dream and I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to explore the wonderful role of ‘Pastore’ under the guidance of Jonathan Cohen in William Kentridge’s new production.

A few lovely words already received:
“Classy singing from Kieron-Connor Valentine”
- Opera OMH

“Kieron-Connor Valentine was an eloquent Pastore, his fine countertenor a reminder that they used an all-male cast for that 1607 premiere”
- Bachtrack

“Charismatic”
- The Telegraph

Bachtrack - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Guardian - ⭐⭐⭐⭐
London Unattached - ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Performances run until the 25th of July.

Based on the screenplay that he himself directed in 2021, the American Fran Kranz’s devastating new stage play, Mass, handles issues that arise from a large-scale high school shooting. At its centre are two couples, one whose son has been killed and one whose son was the killer. Six years after the tragedy, they agree to meet, and the conversation that they have lies at its heart. Directed by Carrie Cracknell, it runs at the Donmar Warehouse until 6 June.

Here is the link to my five-star review for Plays International:

https://playsinternational.org.uk/mass-donmar-warehouse/

The photograph by Richard Hubert Smith shows the four main actors, all of whom contribute strong and subtle performances. Adeel Akhtar, as Jay, the victim’s father, is the quickest to move from friendliness to fury, while Lyndsey Marshal, as his wife, is the stillest, though signalling defeat rather than tranquillity. Monica Dolan, as Linda, quivers nervously alongside Paul Hilton, as her cadaverously contained husband. They are well supported by the remaining members of the cast.
