Pilchuck Design Conference recap, Day one: This conference was exactly what I needed after finishing up my MFA. A space to be inspired, motivated, supported and pushed to expand and explore. Thank you to the organizers and everyone involved, it was awesome 🔥. This all-star team delivered a beautiful tribute to Ben Moore by producing one of his signature pieces in the Annex hot shop. @pilchuckglassschool David Alhadeff of @thefutureperfect shared some valuable insights into the design process and getting your work out into world. I took a ton of notes but I’ll just share this: In the intersection of art, design and craft is the sweet spot to create some very meaningful and beautiful work. Susanne Jøker Johnsen working with Jimmy Anderegg and Megan Stelljes in the gaffer station. @susannejoeker @jimmy_anderegg @meganstelljes @daniellebrensinger working on a piece that combined inspiration from multiple female designers from the Corning Museum collection. Jakub Pollág of @zeitgeist.limited sharing his journey with glass and design. “The bigger the challenge, the more interesting it is.” There were a few more presentations on day one, and all of them inspired me in different ways. I didn’t get photos of each one but they each offered a ton of valuable information and kicked things off with a bang.
