TOMORROW!

ONE AFTERNOON. A WHOLE LOT OF FISHING..

Come hang out.

Talk fishing with some incredibly knowledgeable people. Put your hands on new gear. Ask the questions you’ve been wondering about. Talk albies, stripers, salmon, trout and the fall run. Catch up with other anglers. And, of course, eat some of Jay’s tacos.

Whether you’re getting ready to chase albies along the coast, heading to New York for salmon, gearing up for fall trout or just love fly fishing, there’s going to be something here for you.

BEAR’S DEN FALL RUN FEST

Saturday, September 19th
12:00–5:00 PM
Bear’s Den Fly Fishing Co.

Rich Strolis tied a bee on the Firehole 315 and called it the Buzz Viper.

He calls it a semi sunk pattern. The foam front holds the thorax up in the film and the heavy wire carries the rest of the fly down, so it hangs the way a drowned bee hangs instead of perching like one that just landed.

We went looking for why that posture matters and found two separate reasons bees and wasps end up on the water in September, running on two different clocks. Neither of them is wind.

His recipe, in his words, and his video are both in the piece. Link in bio.

We’ve finally received some much needed rains. With that, Farmington River flows have crested into the 600cfs range, making this a great time to fish streamers! We have a ton of local favorite patterns from Rich Strolis in stock ready for this moment! Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or need advice on how to target trout on streamers, we’ve got you covered!

Joey gives a breakdown on some shop favorites, as well as a quick tip on tippet choice/rigging for these flies.

We are camping for the week up at Wilderness. Giving the trout a break, taking in some amazing sunsets, playing ‘fudgies’, roasting marshmallows and hanging with the Koz Tribe. Smoke has cleared, could use some heat but water feels great! Chasing smalljaws for a few days. See you on the river next week. #puremichigan #wildernessstatepark
