I first met Richard Curle, MD of Landscape Associates in 2014. I was a volunteer at the time on a charity garden they were building at RHS Chelsea on main avenue and admired how hardworking, and caring his team was.

As a then student I could only dream of designing show gardens! After qualifying as a designer in 2016 I approached them to build my first show garden @the_rhs Hampton Court Flower Show which forged a great working relationship with the team.

How time flies!! 22 months ago I asked Landscape Associates if they would build the @parkinsonsuk - A Garden for Every Parkinson Journey, at RHS Chelsea 2026 sponsored by the generous @project.giving.back Luckily they said yes and the rest is history!!!

All of the teams that came to work on the site were made to feel welcome and at ease.

Thank you SO MUCH for working so hard and caring about this garden before, during and after RHS Chelsea……you are all legends!!!

There’s a joy in translating a piece of art into something people can walk through, touch, and sit inside. That was our task on this show garden, designed by Darren Hawkes: to render the striking, interconnecting architectural structures inspired by the clay sculpture La Casa del Poeta III, by renowned Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida.

The rugged, textured ceramic surface of the original sculpture evokes protection and the nurturing nature of the womb.

Our challenge was to recreate that same rugged ceramic surface at architectural scale, in a material that could stand outdoors and hold its own in the planting. Guy achieved it by working fine charcoal dust into the lime render by hand, building the mottled, weathered texture layer by layer.

Look closely and the walls shift constantly with the light — warm ochre and sienna in full sun, deepening to umber and soot in the coves and undersides, where the render is worked darkest to give real depth to each hollow. Up close, the surface is soft and uneven, almost skin-like, with the same worn, sun-bleached quality as old clay or adobe left to weather for decades. It’s smooth where hands have passed over it, rough and textured where the charcoal has caught, so no two curves ever quite catch the light the same way.

The garden was created for the Lady Garden Foundation, to raise awareness of the gynaecological cancers which claim 21 lives a day in the UK. Silence and stigma delay diagnosis, and this garden was built to help start the conversations that save lives.

We’re proud that Silent No More was awarded a Gold Medal and Best Construction Award @the_rhs Chelsea Flower Show 2026.

There are so many talented people and teams who made this garden what it was. To mention a few: @ladygardenfoundation @darrenhawkeslandscapes @lalandscapes @heritagecoblime @tashvdouglas @stucco__design @wheelbarrowlandscapes @rob_bartlett_ @richcurle @captainflava @plantyjane
