The 5 seeing (hiking) habits…. 1. Aim high in hiking 2. Get the big picture 3. Keep your eyes moving 4. Leave yourself an out 5. Make sure they see you. These were the five seeing habits I used for 39 years at united parcel service. I incorporate them into my hiking as well. Aim high in your vision some 100 yards ahead, get the big picture, east-west peripheral vision, keep your eyes moving from left to right and from ground to sky, leave yourself an out, don’t get in a trap,plan an escape route, never run! Make sure the wildlife sees you, don’t startle them, stay stationary, allow them to move, wherever they want then you find that escape route slowly! Remember, you’re the visitor. This is their habitat and land.
