Our first Let’s Meet hike, and what a way to kick things off with my first community hike!

Unreal views, even better people, plenty of laughs and some proper conversations along the way. Finished, of course, with a well-deserved pub trip. 🍻

We want to create a space where people can get outside, meet new faces, make genuine connections and feel comfortable being themselves. A safe space to have a laugh, talk, and just enjoy being out there together.

A massive thank you to everyone who came along and made our first hike what it was. This is only the beginning, and we can’t wait for what’s next.

Come and be part of it. 🤘

Lads, we’re shit at talking to each other.

Now, I’m not saying we all need to start crying on each other’s shoulders and expressing our deepest feelings, but we do need to start taking a bit more responsibility for our mates, dads, brothers, colleagues and the other blokes around us.

Around 75% of all suicides are men, and despite this, the support available is nowhere near where it needs to be. The reality is, plenty of men won’t go to a therapist, speak to their GP or ask for help, whether that’s down to pride, stigma or simply not knowing where to start.

And that’s where we come in.

Sometimes, the best people to help are other blokes. People you can share interests with, take the piss out of and have a laugh with. People you can be yourself around, without feeling like you need to put on a front.

Which is why it’s pretty brilliant that @rob_explorez and @louis.getbetter organised their first hike at the weekend, dedicated to Men’s Mental Health.

Just a bunch of like-minded lads getting lost in bogs, crossing questionable rivers and chucking horrendous levels of humour around. Nothing complicated, just good company, fresh air and a chance to switch off for a bit. Let’s just hope the audio from those videos never makes the light of day

If you’re struggling right now, please know you can drop me a DM. Whether you fancy grabbing a pint, smashing out a hike or just need someone to vent to, don’t suffer on your own.

I know I’m more than happy to listen, and I reckon there are 16 other spot-on lads from this hike who’d say exactly the same.

Serious post over. Drop your pride, chaps. Look after your mates.

No puns today, but we’ll be back to normal programming next post.

Awesome weekend in the lakes joining @rob_explorez and @louis.getbetter ‘s new venture @letsmeet_at Big things coming in this space and excited what the guys have planned

Good vibes all round and great to meet new people and push myself a bit outside my comfort zone. Not been to an event where I didn’t know anyone there in a very long time.

Inadvertently Ashley Cole’d the photos hahah. Nope that’s just me, social anxiety and being awkward in photos 😂

Awesome run club, thanks to @cornishbakery for giving enough free pastries and coffees to feed an entire village.

Social media algorithms seem to be pushing controversial and divisive content so here’s to breaking that algorithm one post at a time.

Tasty 7.0k trail run around derwent water and good to meet everyone who ran too.

Solo wild camp, followed by men’s only hike for mental health awareness. @wanderingmomentsuk and @better.days.outdoors doing some incredible work in this space too so go give them a follow too.

Oh and not paying £10 3x for parking then getting a £25 fine is a win btw in case you were wondering 😂

HONESTLY, where do we even start with this one?

Less than 2 months ago, this was just an idea. Yesterday, we had 17 lads turn up for our very first community hike, all coming together to support a cause that genuinely matters. 🤝

We’ll be honest, you always get those nerves when starting something like this. You put an idea out there, cross your fingers and hope people actually show up. You never really know if it’s going to work until the day comes around.

But to have 17 lads there for the very first one? We genuinely couldn’t have asked for more. ❤️

With Suicide Awareness Month having just passed and World Mental Health Day on the Saturday before the hike, the timing felt pretty special.

A massive shoutout to @wanderingmomentsuk and @better.days.outdoors for helping us bring the day together. It was class to see everyone come together for something bigger than just a walk.

17 lads. 1 mission. No pressure, no judgement, just a safe space to get outside, have a laugh and know that you can speak your mind if you need to.

That’s what we want this community to be about. Taking a step back from the pressures of everyday life, getting off our phones, sharing a few miles and remembering that you don’t have to have everything figured out to turn up.

This first hike was just for the lads, but our next hike on the 24th is open to EVERYONE.

Whether you come for the walking, the laughs, the people or just a bit of headspace, you’re welcome.

This is only the beginning, and if the first one is anything to go by, we’re pretty excited to see where this goes.

Get outside. Check in on your mates. Keep showing up.

Thank you all so much for the support so far,

- Lou & Rob.
