Building a 12’ x 12’ Gambrel Garage! Part 6: Installing Concrete Wedge Anchors and Post Bases!

When I poured the concrete footings, I intentionally left three of them without anchor bolts so I could demonstrate an alternative method for securing post bases after the concrete has cured and that is with concrete wedge anchors!

To install the 5/8” wedge anchors, I marked the center of each footing and used my @ridgidpowertools NUKE Subcompact Hammer Drill to drill a 5/8” hole approximately 4” deep. I then used a mini sledgehammer to set the anchors in place and an impact wrench to secure the @strongtie ABA post bases to the concrete footings.

Just when I thought I was almost finished, I noticed one of the anchors was slightly off-center. I couldn’t leave this post base out of alignment with the others, so I installed a second anchor to get everything lined up properly.

With all the post bases installed, I can proceed with getting all the 6x6 post cut to size for the rim joist!
