One of the biggest misconceptions about event planning is that the timeline exists to keep everyone on schedule.

A well-designed timeline does far more than that. It creates space for the moments that matter most.

The extra five minutes to finish a conversation, the hug you didn’t have to cut short, the speech that had room to breathe, and the opportunity to be fully present throughout the day.

The timeline protects the moment. It doesn’t replace it.

Let’s be real… working in events isn’t always glitz and glamour.

For every beautiful tablescape & perfectly pressed linen, there are hundreds of behind the scenes moments that never make the highlight reel.

Here’s a little peek behind the curtain 🤍

A favorite from the bridal shower archives 🤍

Soft colors, playful details, and a setup I still love looking back on.

The “dream phase” is fun. Scrolling Pinterest, saving everything on IG, sending TikToks… I get it.

But there comes a point where more inspo actually starts working against you.

It’s easy to say “that’s cute”, but it’s harder to ask:
• does this make sense for the space?
• does it work with the overall design?
• does it fit with the timeline and flow of the event?

That’s where planning comes in.

My goal isn’t to recreate 15 different inspo photos in one event. It’s to design something cohesive that actually feels like you. And then back it with a plan that makes it all function.

Because if the layout is off, the timing is rushed, or vendors aren’t aligned… it doesn’t matter how good the inspo was.

At some point, it’s less scrolling and more decisions. Finding ideas is easy. Execution is where it counts.

Hosting for Easter this weekend?

Here are a few things I always consider to make a space feel pulled together + easy to enjoy 💕

From organizing toys and bossing everyone around as a kid…
to building timelines, designing events, and coordinating vendors.

Some things never change ✨

All together now 💙 For brides that want a variety of colors and patterns, creating a chain of small round tables is a good option—but keep in mind that you’ll lose space for seating. “You can’t fit nearly as many seats as you would be able to at a long rectangle table,” says Rielly Kidwell, who works as an event planner. “Because we [she and groom Michael Bailey] didn’t have a seated dinner, we didn’t have to worry as much about leaving space for table settings or having too large of tabletop floral.” See three more ways to do wedding tables at the link in our bio.
