Some stories make the news.

Some become headlines.

And some...

become Files.

Today, I’m excited to officially introduce The Black File Project.

For years, I’ve told stories through books and conversations. This project is different.

Each investigation will be told chapter by chapter using court records, police reports, interviews, timelines, and primary source documents to go beyond the headlines and into the evidence.

The official trailer is live.

📁 FILE 001 opens next week.

Let’s open the file. 🖤📁

I have had the pleasure of working with many collectors, but I think one of my favorite collaborations was for @rietta.xo_ for her novel The Blood Reign!

Rietta had a very specific vision, and I was thrilled to bring it to life. She is a local author and military spouse and her books are also in @thelazydaisybookshop ⚔️

Have you ever asked for a sign… and actually gotten one?

While working on Heather Turner’s case, true crime podcast host, Rietta experienced something incredible...

The moment she asked for a sign, her left ear started ringing. The same side where Heather was shot.

Some people call it coincidence. Others call it connection.

💭 Do you believe in signs or moments of spiritual confirmation like this?
Share your thoughts below! I’m curious how you see it.

When your body lives in constant fight-or-flight mode, it starts to break down.

I learned that the hard way in my 20s when I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis.

What Rietta (@rietta_books_truth_vibes) said in this clip hit hard:

👉 “You can’t just fix the symptom. You need to find out what the root cause is.”

It’s a reminder that burnout isn’t just mental — it’s physical, emotional, and cumulative.

💭 What’s one thing you’ve done (or want to do) to reduce stress and actually heal instead of just coping?

Share in the comments. You might inspire someone who needs to hear it.

⚠️ Something doesn’t add up…

A mother found dead — but the scene doesn’t make sense:
• Fresh out of the shower, her child still in the house
• A weapon found wrapped in a bloody towel
• A 30-minute gap before anyone called 911

My guest Rietta (@rietta_books_truth_vibes) breaks down the case that raises more questions than answers.

In the episode, we also discuss:
🎙 Life as a military spouse & finding purpose through true crime
🎙 Balancing advocacy, grief, and family life
🎙 How trauma, stress, and physical health intersect

Being stalked is something you never forget.
I’ve been there... the fear, the hyper-awareness, the feeling of being watched.

That’s why I asked Rietta (@rietta_books_truth_vibes), a military spouse and true crime host, if she ever fears for her safety while doing what she does.

Make sure to check out the episode when it airs this week, Wed Oct 22!

💓Local love on our shelves💓

These romance books are all penned by local authors and we’re SO proud to carry these stories!

These aren’t all the local authors we stock (our local author lineup is STRONG) but it’s a sweet little taste of the talent right here in our community✨

Also! @authorkatiekarambelas is in store today signing her book Before We Break so come on down and show your support!🤩

“Are these real places?”. I’m often asked if I pull any inspiration from real places, and honestly yes! But I rarely ever paint from actual reference photos of places anymore. I like to think I have a general understanding of geography, shadows, and the way things look. But I didnt truly stop relying on reference photos until I grasped the true concept of art: how the artist perceives the world. So if I’m off, thats simply because I saw it that way.

BUT I do still use references for things I haven’t had the chance to pay attention to, like how a shoulder looks when it holds a sword in the air, or a man’s calve when he’s walking slowly, or the way fabric drapes when laid a certain way. Those I do need a little help imagining, and rarely ever does the reference look like the final product. I’ve had friends take reference photos for me, send me stuff to practice, and I take the photos as often as I can rather than relying on someone else’s perception of the world.

Like a photographer can capture the magic in the little moments, I think those mundane moments make for the best art ✨
