An ordinary porch…until the Goodwill-found, thrifted treasures came alive! DIY creations, handmade finds & a little Tim Kime Art imagination turned my front porch into a Halloween haunt. Meet Frankie and his bride, follow the ghosts and watch for a spooky spin at nighttime! Which decoration is your frightening favorite? #thrifting #diy #halloween #transylvaniatuesday

What a joy to create a one-of-a-kind art piece-collage in honor of Dr. Cheryl Lee’s retirement. This dentist has done so much for others & the @brooklandcivic wanted to show its gratitude. A Goodwill-found mat/frame was paired with cards from my Mom Barb along with clippings for old magazines and calendars highlighting Dr. Cheryl Lee’s service to the Greater Brookland community & beyond. Many good wishes on her next adventure! @findingyourgood #diy #reuse #thrifting #transformationtuesday #upcycle

👩🏻👩🏼👩🏾👩🏿👩🏼🤷👩👶🏼👶🏾👶🏼👶🏿👦🏽👦🏼👦🏽👦🏻👦

Did you know that today is Good Neighbor Day and that it’s a real Holiday?

It was created in the early 1970s by Becky Mattson of Lakeside, Montana. And in 1978, United States President Jimmy Carter issued Proclamation 4601:

“As our Nation struggles to build friendship among the peoples of this world, we are mindful that the noblest human concern is concern for others. Understanding, love and respect build cohesive families and communities. The same bonds cement our Nation and the nations of the world. For most of us, this sense of community is nurtured and expressed in our neighborhoods where we give each other an opportunity to share and feel part of a larger family…I call upon the people of the United States and interested groups and organizations to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.”

We are The Brookland NEIGHBORHOOD Civic Association. We exist to help neighbors. We ourselves are neighbors!

Maybe today reach out to a neighbor and see how they are. Or, reach out to a new neighbor and introduce yourself!

And maybe, also consider joining to become a member of THIS neighborhood civic group! You’ll meet a lot more neighbors! 😃

Happy Good Neighbor Day!

I went to Goodwill looking for possibilities… And apparently came home with coffee tables. A tall green vessel. A giant gold pot. My great grandmother‘s old mirror. A suitcase table I already loved. Pieces collected from here, there and everywhere! Sometimes the best design question isn’t “what is this?” But “what could this be?” And that’s where the fun begins! #diy #thrifting #upcycle #repurposing

Transform glassware, jars, and other items found on the shelves at Goodwill to turn into lights. Really! All you need is the special wireless cork light found online for just a few dollars. Now each and every corner of your house can have a little bit more brightness. #upcycle #diy #thrifting #repurpose #rethink
