Rethink your definition of an athlete 🏋️‍♂️

Athleticism is not just about elite performance, but the ability to move with precision and confidence in any environment.

How do you foster this in your athletes and sporting environments?

Every athlete plays their last game, hopefully they'll never stop moving.

I recently read an article by Faigenbaum and colleagues that proposes reframing Long-Term Athletic Development (LTAD) as Long-Term Activity Development (LTActD). The message is simple: success isn't just about developing better athletes, it's about helping people stay active for life.

That idea really resonates with me. As coaches and educators, we're not just preparing young people for next season we're helping them build habits that can last a lifetime.

How do you define success as a coach, teacher, or trainer?

Coaches, are you truly listening to your athletes?

Giving them a voice fosters growth. Build confidence by celebrating small wins, not fearing failure.

How are you empowering your athletes to reach their best?

Three inspiring days at NSCA NatCon 2026.

Every year I leave with new ideas, renewed perspective, and greater confidence in the principles that guide my coaching.

Plus I get to see so many great friends!

Honored to receive the **RSCC*E (Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach – Emeritus)** designation this year—a meaningful milestone recognizing a lifetime of dedication to the profession.

Grateful to learn alongside so many outstanding coaches and researchers. Now it’s time to put those ideas into practice.

Training with strongman implements can make you better at playing Pickleball, believe it or not.

Dr. Rick Howard is an expert on Long Term Athletic Development (LTAD) and provided a quote on strongman and LTAD in the book Strongman Training for Strength and Performance. @rihoward41

This clip is a short snapshot of a longer interview.

On April 24, we brought together a great group of coaches, educators, and leaders to discuss research and practical recommendations for developing #life skills in a strength setting.

High performance and human development are not enemies – they are co-enhancing, if leaders are willing to embrace the weight room for its full educational potential 💪

Sports don’t teach life lessons… YOU do, coach. Amazing to have so many dedicated educators in house. Thank you to all who attended!
