That’s right, that’s the way she goes.
Sometimes she goes, sometimes she doesn’t, that’s the way she goes.
After what you may say was a weird ass winter, the boys were still able to put a ski movie together.
Traveling to all corners of the world, from Tahoe to BC, Japan, Argentina, New Zealand and Alaska. We definitely lost all the gas money, maybe some dignity as well, but that’s the way she goes.
Come hang with this crew of degenerate ski bums and watch our premiers all around the Tahoe area starting on October 21st! Check out www.skiforthelove.com for all the details.

On March 26, I ended up in the ER with no feeling in my feet and major loss of power in my left leg. I couldn’t stand up straight, had a gnarly limp, and found out I’d herniated the discs from L3-S1.
The next three weeks sucked.
I barely moved. I was walking with a cane. My feet were still numb. Every little thing hurt.
I met with a surgeon who told me this pain was something I’d deal with forever & that a spinal fusion was likely somewhere in my future. She gave me steroids & muscle relaxers and sent me on my way. Which took me from scared to absolutely terrified.

Rally for Rocker was coming up, and the FOMO was hitting hard. About a week before the event, I finally ditched the cane. I could almost stand up straight again, and I told Nate, “I just need to know if I can make one turn.” Not ride the course. Not hit features. Literally just make it down at the end of the day without eating it.
If it wasn’t for Nate being completely onboard through all of this—helping me physically, talking me off the ledge mentally, and believing I’d get back to doing me—I honestly think I would’ve gone insane.
We went riding the day before. I could barely turn, stiff as a board. It wasn’t pretty.

Rally came. I stood there staring at the hip telling myself, “Just hit it once. If it hurts, you’re done.”
Somewhere between that first hit and the next four hours of hiking it over and over, I forgot I was injured.
For the first time in weeks, I felt like me again.
The next day my body reminded me I was, in fact, still injured.

The following week I started at @ptrevolution_truckee with Kayla & Brie.
For the last three months they’ve poked me, cupped me, shocked me, heated me up, & made me do exercises that looked way too easy until they absolutely humbled me & somehow put me back together.

Last week I graduated. I’m living my life instead of watching it from the sidelines.
Turns out that surgeon wasn’t the only opinion.
Kayla, Brie, and the whole PT Rev crew turned one of the scariest chapters of my life into one that reminded me just how resilient our bodies can be when we give them the chance.

Not much is left up there but just enough for a little 4th of July ski.

That brings the monthly total to 117. See you next month for some more snow adventures.

Unexpected run ins with @g_radical22 who joined in a lap. And trail friends from Mānuka’s besty Teddy and his parents @blacklambx and @horsiedoodle
