Being Ukrainian is the greatest honour of my life.
It means being brave and courageous.
It means having an unbreakable spirit.

After listening to the interview between President Zelensky and President Trump, I want to share my thoughts as a Ukrainian, born in Kyiv. Now, as I write this post from London, my loved ones are experiencing a missile attack. I pray every single day for their safety, health, and strength—for the Ukrainian soldiers who bravely defend us every day.

Look at these photos from my recent trip to Ukraine: me in Kyiv; a magazine from my high school, where children write and paint about peace and Ukraine’s victory; me with a Ukrainian soldier I met on a train; @mari.ri.na and @rimikatya, who volunteer tirelessly to support soldiers and Ukraine; and @maks_plias, a 15-year-old student in Kyiv who always supports my fundraisers first :)

I could speak endlessly about how the full-scale war has divided my life into ‘before’ and ‘after,’ how it has devastated the lives of all Ukrainians.

The President of 🇺🇸 spoke about a deal—but there can be no deals with those who have broken their past agreements 25 times. I am referring to the President of 🇷🇺, Putin, who ordered the full-scale invasion of 🇺🇦 in 2022.

The President of 🇺🇸 spoke about a ceasefire—yet at the time of the interview, there were ballistic missile attacks on Ukraine. And now, as I write this, Kyiv is under missile attack.

One deal, without real security guarantees, is not enough to stop 🇷🇺. 🇷🇺 has broken his word 25 times, continuing to occupy Ukraine, destroy peaceful cities, and kill countless Ukrainians. Among those killed was my friend @glivanov_10—he never returned from Bakhmut, where he fought to defend Ukraine. To honour the memory of our fallen peers, we organised an exhibit: @unissued_diplomas.

Ukraine continues to defend itself and to live. I am grateful to everyone who stands with Ukraine, who has supported us all these years. Winston Churchill once said, “A nation that chooses dishonour over war will have both.”
