@rios.gift is raising funds to build a children’s hospice in Western Sydney. Mounties Care Cottage is going to be a game changer for families going through the toughest of times.
On Saturday night we got dressed up for A Night in Rio gala ball at Mounties and a very generous room showed a lot of love. In three weeks 5 of us head to the US to run the New York marathon under the banner of Rio’s Legacy.
The training and the fundraising continues! This week I hit my 52 week streak on Strava, if you have the means help us hit our fundraising goal for the marathon, your donation will help countless kids and their families when they need it most. Link in bio

We are so honoured to be performing at the Cottage Care Gala Ball- ‘A Night in Rio’ Spectacular on Saturday 10 October at Mounties Showroom for @rios.gift
It is such a privilege to be part of an incredible evening bringing together Brazilian culture, music, dance and celebration for such a meaningful cause.

With 16 of our performers on stage, we can’t wait to bring the energy, colour and passion of Rio Carnival to the stage and help make this special night one to remember!
Most importantly, we are proud to support an event dedicated to children and families in need ❤️

I’m excited to share that I’ve been awarded a Churchill Fellowship! 🙌

I went to my first Information session in 2020 when I was working as a Holistic Funeral Director. I knew then that there was a gap of knowledge in after death care (from the time of death to the funeral) in community and healthcare. I wasn’t ready then because I couldn’t see my project clearly.

Fast forward to 2026 and I am now working at @veryspecialkids (paediatric palliative care hospice) as a Family Support Practitioner and it was clear. My project is to identify and develop best practice after death care in paediatric hospices. 🙏🧡

Paediatric Hospices provide after death care for children in Australia. The gift of time for families to spend with their child until they can take their next steps.

My passion in working in these spaces over the last decade has always centered around access to independent information, the power of time and therapeutic supports after death.

I’m proud to be one of 75 Australians who will travel overseas to learn from colleagues in paediatric hospices to bring new ideas, knowledge and connections home to Australia.

At the heart of this project is the child, their siblings, parents and community. After death care is an essential part of bereavement care. 🍂

Congratulations Dr Gautam on completing the 2026 City2Surf! ❤️🏃‍♂️

What an incredible man, and what an incredible reason to run.

Dr Bijender Gautam is so much more than a doctor. He is someone who shows up for children and families when they need it most. He has cared for so many of our little heroes, offering not only his medical expertise, but compassion, kindness and hope when families are facing their darkest days.

The Little Heroes team, is trying to raise $5,000 for Rio’s Legacy — a charity working to ensure children with life-limiting illnesses and their families have access to the specialised hospice and respite care they so desperately need.

There are currently only three children’s hospices in Australia. Rio’s Legacy is helping change that, with a new children’s hospice being built at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead — an incredible legacy for little Rio and the families who will one day find comfort there.

Dr Gautam chose to run 14km today for these children and families, and we couldn’t be prouder of him. 🫶

Every donation, no matter how small, helps create a future where no family has to face this journey without the care, support and dignity they deserve.

Please support Dr Gautam and our Little Heroes team if you can. Together, we can make a difference for so many little lives.

Today, Dr Bijender Gautam, Liv & Jack’s incredible paediatrician, is taking on the 14km City2Surf to raise funds for children and families living with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. 🏃‍♂️🩷

But to us, Bijender is so much more than Liv’s doctor. He is an extraordinary human being who has walked alongside our family through some of our hardest moments.

One moment we will never forget was when Liv was critically unwell in ICU. Bijender came to visit Liv even though his own child was unwell at the time. That moment showed us the kind of man he is — compassionate, selfless and completely devoted to the children and families he cares for. 🥹🩷

And today, he’s putting his feet to work for our kids, running 14km to help raise awareness and funds for Rio’s Legacy, whose mission is to improve access to respite, hospice and palliative care for children and their families.

We feel incredibly lucky that our kids have a doctor who cares so deeply — and who is willing to run 14km for them too. 🩷

If you can, please support this incredible man and help him make every kilometre count.
