LOOK 4

Inspired by the raw textures of ā€œThe Blue World,ā€ and it tested every bit of my patience.

The top alone was a massive engineering puzzle. I used paper draping to map it out, stitching together 12 individual panels to create a giant cone shape, which I then carefully cut to get that sharp, asymmetrical look. To keep that structure completely rigid, I stitched two vertical pieces of boning on both sides of every single seam, plus horizontal boning every 3 inches.

Then came the middle skirt. I wasn’t settling for anything less than perfect, so I went through 4 different samples before finally choosing a gorgeous quilted base. On top of that, we added embroidery inspired by the rugged rocks found on the ocean shore.

But the real drama? The massive, voluminous bottom skirt. Our first prototype was a total heartbreak. We spent a whole week building it and packed it with almost 100 meters of boning, only for it to completely fail. It was way too heavy and just couldn’t hold that perfect round shape.

To save the design, cut down the weight, and slash the costs, we had to completely pivot and build a custom crinoline frame instead. It worked like magic, and the skirt finally held its ground.

And finally look 4 was ready!!!

LOOK 3

Completely inspired by the movement of ocean waves, and let me tell you, it is not as simple as it looks.

Started with a simple, asymmetrical base where all the wavy layers were supposed to attach. My original plan was to use classic ruffles to get that uneven, crashing-wave effect. The design was split into 4 main sections, and each of those had 4 more individual sections where the ruftle strips needed to go to give it that dramatic, pop-up wavy flare.

But when we did the math, the fabric count was hitting over 100 meters! That was way too much fabric, and it would have made the dress way too heavy to actually wear on a runway.

So, we had a major pivot. We dropped the idea of ruffles entirely and decided to cut straight strips of fabric in a very specific, clever way that still created that beautiful, uneven wave look. That single adjustment slashed our fabric usage from 100 meters down to just 35 meters, keeping the exact same look but making the dress lightweight and fluid.

Once all those strips were gathered and stitched, the base was finally ready. The last step was hand-draping the wave textures across the bodice, which took almost 3 days of nonstop hand-tacking to lock into place.

And finally look 3 was ready!!!

LOOK 2

Entirely inspired by the deep-sea octopus.

The base dress started with a serious amount of volume , i stacked net, cancan, and lining just to give the main fabric that perfect dramatic flare at the bottom. But the real challenge? Engineering the massive tentacle wrapping around the body.

To bring it to life, I literally taped up the mannequin to map out exactly how I wanted the tentacle to sit. I measured the front and back, and created a custom pattern that perfectly matched the curves of the body.

But once we stitched this massive, 10-meter fabric tube together, we hit a wall. We tried stuffing it with polyfill by hand, but it kept leaving huge, empty gaps. It just wasn’t working.

So, I hunted down a local soft-toy manufacturer in the area and took the tentacle to their factory! used their stuffing machines to blast the polyfill into every single inch so it looked completely flawless and structured.

To finish it off, we embroidered over 400 individual ā€œsuckerā€ patches ranging from 0.5 an inch to 1.5 inches. It took 26 hours of non-stop, intense hand-stitching just to place every single patch onto the tentacle.

But finally Look 2 was finally ready.

LOOK 1

This look started with paper draping, but when that didn’t give me the exact architectural shape wanted, I knew I had to pivot. My teacher helped me out with the pattern, and we decided to create a digital egg-shaped silhouette in CLO3D. I printed it out, traced it, cut it, and stitched it all together until I was literally standing in front of a physical fabric egg.

Then came the nerve-wracking part: I had to carefully cut into that shape to carve out the dramatic whale tail fluke silhouette you see here.

To get that crisp, ā€œstructuralā€ look, I stitched heavy wire right into the hem and packed it with meters of boning. I then hand-felted the entire base fabric to smooth out any harsh boning before hand-stitching the main luxury fabric on top for a totally seamless finish.

But the grind didn’t stop there. For that perfect ombré gradient on the skirt, I was so stubborn about my vision that I literally waited at the vendor’s place until 3:00 AM because that was the only time they agreed to do it.

CAMPAIGN : THAT’S SO STRANGE

ā€œThat’s So Strangeā€ captures the raw individuality of today’s youth: the ones who skate at night, dance in alleys, paint their city walls, and live unapologetically in their element. Instead of a scripted ad, the campaign unfolds like a music video... fast-paced, rhythmic, and real.

Through three subcultures: a skater, a dancer, and a graffiti artist (and optionally, a local musician/DJ tying the beats together); we celebrate what it means to Embrace Your Strange.

About the brand:
@strangestorein was founded in 2021 by Aaliq, Zoyeesh, and Manthan, born from a shared belief that fashion should be personal, emotional, and intentional. Strange is an abbreviation it stands for street and change. The brand’s motto, ā€œDesigned with Purpose,ā€ reflects this philosophy. In a few words, Strange is:
ā€œEmotional. Story-led. Premium. Conscious. Streetwear.

COUTUREVERSE

By 2030, luxury retail is no longer a place — it’s an experience that thinks, feels, and evolves with you. Luxury retail has dissolved the boundary between nature and couture.

The Botanical Couture Lab is a living, breathing environment where fashion grows, evolves, and responds — just like the ecosystem it is inspired by. Guests enter a space that feels less like a store and more like an enchanted atelier hidden inside a forest. Drapes mimic the depth of old-growth canopies, while the ground is softened with moss, wild foliage, and textured greenery. A sculpted sofa sits like a relic of quiet luxury amid nature, inviting guests to pause, feel, and reconnect.

Artisans work in a studio surrounded by living plants and biophilic textures. As they embroider or drape fabric, soft ambient projections ripple across the greenery, revealing:
the botanical inspirations behind motifs,
the natural dyes used,
the environmental stories embedded in each textile.
Nothing is loud. Everything whispers — like a forest that reveals its secrets slowly.
