I ran 3 miles in dress shoes to a Broadway show (just in time with Jeremy Jordan) because the subway encountered an issue. The 20 minute escapade of swimming upstream in Manhattan was one of those moments where life’s beauty is as clear as the streets were full. It’s been 2 weeks and I still have this odd blister that won't heal right. It’s a lovely memory even though I missed the big first number, but that's part of what makes the memory so special. How grateful I am for this summer and how privileged I am to feel like I have a summer. The choices I get to make each day are exhausting and amazing. What a gift it is to go outside and celebrate my body and the people around me! I am struck with awe at how much sweat I have produced- and I mean this literally. I have watched the water run out of my body and fall into puddles on the ground only to shrink into nothingness leaving the only proof that I was there as fatigue and pain that I carry with me- proudly.  I see and feel grief differently than before. Reckless and unashamed hope and conviction fuel my actions, filling my daylight with opportunity and my starlight with sleep. I grieve because of many errors and mistakes, but also because I have earned much in my life. It is a celebration of what I have lived through. A remembrance of what I chose to believe in.  I doubt I have lived my life well, but I know I have loved enough to keep working. What a joy to have lived at all. What a joy to keep living.
