In honor of Mother’s Day, 2024, Nest is highlighting a handful of makers from our Nest x Etsy: Uplift Makers Indigenous Artisans Collective. Closing out this mini-series, we are spotlighting Pamela Risling, @rislingrose, and her artisan jewelry pieces from the Earth & Sea which can be found on her Etsy page at RislingRoseDesigns! Pamela shared, “My mother Barbara and her mother Evelyn have had the most influence on me. We were all extremely close while I was growing up and spent most of our time together.” Fast forward to now, Pamela said, “I’m a proud mother, grandmother, and elder member of the Hupa Tribe. Artistry runs deep in my veins, connecting me to my roots and traditions. Over the years, I have worn many hats - a gatherer, teacher, mentor, and artist… The number one teachings I share is our traditional language, my number one hobby. But a close second is native plants, not only for gathering for weaving, but for food sovereignty, and medicinally. This knowledge has been passed down to me and I have been giving this knowledge to my children and grandchildren.” Join us in celebrating Pamela Risling, as both a mother, grandmother, and a maker, and shop her collection on Etsy at RislingRoseDesigns! #rislingrosedesigns #indigenousartisanscollective #handcrafted #craft #jewelry #mothersday #buildanest
