It’s been a little quiet here, and on the feast of Saint Rita, patron saint of impossible causes - it seemed like the right day to tell you all why.

On February 27th, my amazing and beautiful mom, Rita Dee, unexpectedly passed away.

My mom was an incredible woman - a titan of faith, love and hope in Christ. Saints Alive was my mom’s idea. And even though she was almost always right, it was an idea I resisted for years. Thankfully, she was relentless in pushing me to do something great, and I finally listened.

My mom was a dreamer, an artist, a wife, a mother, and most importantly a daughter of God. She loved Our Lord so fully that it was infectious to those around her. She blessed me with innumerable gifts as her son, but the gift I’m most thankful for is that of my faith and love of God.

If you’ve listened to Saints Alive, odds are you’ve heard my mom’s voice. She was an ensemble member in nearly every episode and played the lead role of Saint Monica this past August. She was Saints Alive’s first believer and biggest cheerleader and I know that through God’s Infinite mercy she will be interceding for us from Heaven.

On Mother’s Day a couple of weeks ago, I was up late putting the final touches on our Saint Philomena episode. It hadn’t been an easy day, and the last thing I wanted to be doing was editing late into the night. But as I put my final polish on the episode, I received the gift of hearing my Mom’s voice again. We had made this episode months before and I had completely forgotten that she had one line: “Jesus Christ is Lord!”

I thank God everyday for blessing me with a Mom that made the impossible, possible.
