Comme dans mes rêves…
@rithikamerchant 🌟🕯️🙏

Rithika Merchant is a visual artist from Bombay (Mumbai), India. Her work explores both comparative mythology as well as science and speculative fiction, featuring creatures and symbolism that are part of her personal visual vocabulary. She creates bodies of work that visually link to our collective past as well as imagine possible new worlds which we may come to inhabit.

[ON VIEW] ‘The Dreaming Realm’ by @rithikamerchant is on view thru November 21, 2026.

📷 THE BRIDGE, 2026, 100x75cm.
Rithika Merchant’s latest works are part of her ongoing series ‘Interspecies Care’, and expand her iconography with new motifs. Here the central pattern takes on the appearance of bismuth, a metal that forms spectacular staircase-shaped crystals with iridescent colors as it cools. Rithika Merchant uses it as a gateway symbolizing the spiritual evolution of her "beings", acting as a link between the physical and astral worlds.

Wishing we could teleport to Paris to see Rithika Merchant’s latest solo exhibition, “The Dreaming Realm,” opening TODAY at @galerielj! ✨

I’ve long admired Rithika’s ability to imagine worlds informed by mythology and the natural world. In this new body of work, she turns to biomimicry, envisioning architectural forms inspired by plants and organic systems.

Her intricate paintings invite us to consider how we might live differently, drawing lessons from nature about interdependence and reciprocity.

Congratulations, Rithika! 💛

Handout design for Rithika Merchant’s seven-frame installation, As the Universe, So The Soul, presented at Art Basel 2026.

The handout is a six-fold accordion, with its form inspired by the installation itself, which is mounted on a seven-frame wood and acrylic screen.

One side features the artwork, while the other includes an essay by Ranjit Hoskote and Rithika’s biography.
The titles are printed in a vibrant red, drawing from the artist’s use of red as an accent in her work.

5-colour offset printed on 120 gsm Tango Smooth Neutral paper the handout features a deep blue, as a special Pantone shade.
