POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Following up on my last post—not every @lowermainlandbreweries beer comes with a flight board and a patio.

Some of our local brews are contract or production-only spots you’ll only find in your local pub or local liquor store.

I have a list of 13. I believe all of these are still active, but let me know if I’ve missed any and which one you’ve had

@balderdashbrewing : Home of the Sneaky Weasel Lager and Wily Wolverine Strong Lager

@boltagebrewing : Working on opening a taproom in downtown Squamish, beers currently available at Eldorado Liquor Store

@centralcitybrew : Long time Surrey brewery, closed tasting room due to financial reasons

@changingcoloursbeer : One of the most innovative and active breweries specializing in hoppy ales, hazy IPAs, and lagers.

@chillyonesbeer : Founded by NHL veteran Tyson Barrie. Produces a 3% light lager.

@curiouscreaturesbeer : Back with a fresh batch of Kome Forest, a Strata Fresh Hopped Japanese Lager

@force_beer_co : A local, value, crafted lager

@magicmalts : BC’s first local South Asian Craft Beer, brewing Baadshah Strong 9.5%

@projecthop : Recreating historical beers. Now opened in Calgary, but will keep doing some local BC brews.

@ravensbrewing : Based in Abbotsford, they are currently listing 7 beers available

@ritualbeerco : Corn Maize, a Vienna Lager and Full Moon Drama, an English Pale Ale are currently available

@spectrumbeer : Focusing on fruitier, light body and experimental beers. 2 core and 4 seasonal are currently listed on their website.

@steelheadbeer : A lager, proudly brewed in BC, for BC

I need to get going on trying these. How many have you tried?

Is it too early for a Brazilian Carnaval #TBT? 🇧🇷✨
Because we already miss it so much!

From the incredible performances to the vibrant community that came together to celebrate, it was truly a night full of rhythm, colour, and unforgettable energy.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who made it possible, our amazing sponsors, partners, vendors, performers, and volunteers who brought the spirit of Carnaval to life. 💛💚

We can’t wait to celebrate together again! 🎉

Corn Maize - 4.5% ABV

@ritualbeerco

I was lucky enough to be gifted this drop from @craftbeertastercanada and @ritualbeerco, thank you both for the assist! This is not a typical style I would pick up on the regular but it really is a great style that is very underrated in my opinion.
Lets chats about the beer though, this brew had a bit less biscuit and malt than I was expecting but its was a welcomed difference, I got a slight hint of lemon/lime and n the tongue as well which gave it a nice light kick. I only got a very slight corn touch from the nixtamal maize corn but I dont think it needed more either. The beer pours a really nice clear amber colour, my only critic is that the head retention was pretty minimal.
Overall a super easy drinking beer, sweet up front and finishes dry, nice and crisp. Great beer! Very touch corn taste from the nixtamal maize corn. very crisp, sweet to dry finish.
Pours a nice clear amber in colour, not the best head retention though. Very easy drinking and tasty beer! Thanks again to Drew and Ritual!

My Dishing with the Chef interview with @martinrodvargas Executive Chef @alimentariamexicana

Chef Martin Vargas grew up in Tijuana, Mexico, he attended culinary school in Tijuana in 2006. Afterwards he did some stages in Mexico City, first at Biko in 2010 for 2 years where he learned a lot. He then work for Jair Tellez who also mentored him and worked at all of his restaurants. He then did an internship in Paris, France for a year (Le Chateau Briand) a French restaurant (owner was from the Basque country). He returned to Mexico City in 2016 to work for Jair Tellez again and at that time; Jair was planning to open a restaurant in Vancouver with his friend Ernesto Gomez; Jair asked Martin if he would like to move to Vancouver and be the head Chef. In 2017, Martin moved to Vancouver and became the head chef of Fayuca (he did this for 2 years before the owners decided to relocate the restaurant). In the Summer of 2019, the owners of Fayuca were working on relocating the restaurant which was too open in the spring of 2020 just when the pandemic happened. That changed everything, he ended up moving over to Chancho Tortilleria in 2020 to help them out for a short while. In 2021 he joined forces with Ernesto Gomez and another partner and opened Alimentaria Mexicana on Granville Island where he is the Executive Chef.

He made me his Beet Ceviche, Sopes Vegetarianos, and Asado De Bodas.
