Come out this Saturday, 9/26, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for a Triangle Off-Road Cycling workday. We are putting the final touches on a new 1.5-mile trail. We will be pruning and naturalizing the trail. No trail building experience is needed. Extra pruning tools and garden rakes will help. Volunteers will be the first to ride the new trail before it opens to everyone. So, bring your bike for a post work ride. See the TORC meetup for details and sign up.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Women on the Move Fitness Event in Hillsborough! 🏃‍♀️🚲🍎 Participants enjoyed an outdoor fitness demonstration, bike tune-ups, nutrition activities, physical therapy consultations, smoothies powered by bicycles, sports bras, and shoe fittings with Fleet Feet.
We are grateful to our partners, volunteers, and students from the UNC Department of City and Regional Planning for helping make this event a success and for connecting community members with resources that support active, healthy communities. We also appreciate Commissioner Robb English for volunteering his time to assist with bike tune-ups during the event.

Come out this Saturday, 8/15, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. We will be working to clear and clean up the Drop Tine trail loop. No trail building experience is needed. Some tools will be provided, but extra pruning tools and rakes will help. Please bring your own water and work gloves. There are Porta-John's on site. Feel free to bring your bike for a post workday ride. This event is also located on the Triangle Off Road Cycling, TORC, website on the Meetup page.

Racing over the past month (Marathon Nationals + Oramm) has been seriously bittersweet.

Nationals ended in some frustrating fatigue. That day required the most courage I have ever displayed when constricting my life to meet the needs of preparation. It all came crashing down. However- there is some honest beauty in watching what you’ve worked so intently for yield nothing. A very raw emotion rears its head. The only comparison I can draw is something akin to standing in a dark, misty field.

The biggest victory from this race ultimately came from the realization that something was not right. Long story short we have seemed to find that my Iron and Magnesium levels were not doing so great.

I was able to supplement for a short period of time and move into Oramm. Oramm was a milestone physical effort for me. I haven’t seen high power repeatability like that ever. The riding was also so good- pisgah mudders in a race format always come down to a battle of attrition. I blew up around hour three- so my finishing placement of 4th wasn’t what I went there to achieve. However given where I was 2 weeks prior made it a standout day. The top three seem to be high quality people so it’s easy to have a frustrating day against them.

I keep having to remind myself that ultimately- this is still bike racing. There are some large scale atrocities to humanity happening all over this world at the moment- so a hurtful day on the bike is something I’m infinitely grateful for.

This is also my first opportunity to announce my partnership with the boys over at @rivermillcycles . I ended up having some last moment bearing failures prior to these races and they put in the work to get me prepped. A massive thank you is owed to them. If you’re ever in the Chapel Hill/ Raleigh area - go stop by and pick yourself up a little trinket. They’ve got something special going on over there.

Finally, I’m just super grateful to have a great partner. She always lifts me out of the depths, and places me somewhere with a slightly different perspective on life than where I rested prior.

The stubborn pursuit of growth must now resume…

🚲💛 Bikes, community, and cold treats! 💛 🚲
Last week in Fairview, we gathered for a Bike Rodeo and relaxed group ride. Riders of all ages tried out bikes, navigated the obstacle course, and cruised together through the neighborhood and park. Whether you were on two wheels for the first time or just enjoying a scenic spin, people had the chance to build confidence, enjoy the outdoors, and share time together.

A huge thank you to @rivermillcycles for providing on-site bike tune-ups and a special shout-out 📢 to Brian Leu for jumping in to keep the line moving and on pace. None of this would be possible without the support of @orangehabitat and funding from @centralpinesregionalcouncil.

We wrapped up the evening with cold treats, good conversations, and a few new bike requests from folks excited to keep riding. 🍉🌟

🚲💛 ¡Bicicletas, comunidad y paletas frías! 💛🚲

La semana pasada en Fairview, nos reunimos para un Rodeo de Bicicletas y un paseo grupal relajado por el vecindario. Personas de todas las edades probaron bicicletas, recorrieron el circuito de obstáculos y pedalearon juntas por el vecindario y el parque. Ya fuera montando en bicicleta por primera vez o simplemente disfrutando de un paseo tranquilo, la gente tuvo la oportunidad de ganar confianza, disfrutar del aire libre y compartir tiempo juntos.

Un enorme agradecimiento a @rivermillcycles por proporcionar ajustes de bicicletas en el lugar, y un reconocimiento especial 📢 a Brian Leu por su ayuda para mantener el ritmo durante todo el evento.
