A couple images of my cast iron ship in the rain last week. It’s part of “A Line, A Shape, A Tool” @thebridgehamptonmuseum . I’ll be at the space this weekend, come on by and say hello if you’re in the neighborhood, fingers crossed the weather is nicer this weekend! The show is a collaboration between the museum and @gearycontemporary. All this stuff was cast at @riversofsteel #alineashapeatool #sculpture #art #iron #boats

🏆 Celebrating Accessibility and Inclusion at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum! 🏛️✨

We’re honored to share that Macculloch Hall Historical Museum (MHHM) was one of six museums recognized with a “Making an Impact” Award by the Mid-Atlantic Association of Museums (MAAM) during its annual meeting at Rutgers University–New Brunswick! 🎉MHHM’s F.M. Kirby Curator of Collections, Ryan Hyman, accepted the award on the Museum’s behalf.

This award celebrates MHHM’s ongoing commitment to making history and art more accessible to everyone. 💙 Through 3D artwork images, Braille and print interpretive signage, audio recordings, and sensory experiences throughout our historic home and two-acre garden, we’re creating more inclusive and engaging experiences for all visitors. 🌿🎨

👏 Congratulations to our dedicated staff, Board, and volunteers, and to our fellow award recipients: 🏛️ Michener Museum of Art (PA) ⚙️ Rivers of Steel (PA) 🌹 Red Mill Museum Village (NJ) 🏡 Van Cortlandt House Museum (NY) 🌲 The Wild Center (NY).

A heartfelt thank-you to MAAM for bringing museum professionals together and championing the vital role museums play as public institutions--making museums more welcoming, inclusive, and accessible for all!💐

iron iron iron

feeling incredibly grateful for my summer of residencies and internships, as they’re coming to an end I’m thinking about the tools I use and the past lives of the iron I cast. How iron is the bloodline of our earth, and its circulation inside our bodies. Thinking about how my practice is a form of self care. Thinking of my fe family. Of presence and perseverance. Of making as a necessity to communicate with and understand the world around me. Creating as a means to breathe, to love to be me

A trip to the burgh! ✈️ PYP’s Executive Director, LaNeshe Miller-White, traveled to Pittsburgh recently as part of the inaugural group of The PA Cultural Exchange (PaX) Fellowship. The PA Cultural Exchange (PaX) is an 18-month statewide fellowship from @pahumanities that brings together practitioners from across Pennsylvania to build relationships, learn from one another, and strengthen their work and communities.

On her trip LaNeshe visited the Carrie Blast Furnaces and…speaking of great playwrights: the @augustwilsonhouse! ❤️

During the PA Cultural Exchange opening weekend - #PaXfellows visited @riversofsteel Carrie Furnace. As part of the site tour, each group had a chance to visit the @boom_concepts Black on Black Love collaborative mural.

The work has been up since ‘22 and is our longest running mural in the AP3 public art portfolio. It is a collaborative piece from 8 different artists and also features some great work from an artist who was one of the first folks to ever hit the Furnace - #iykyk

3 different PaX Fellows @reckless_bohemian @goodboygems and @dskinsel spoke on how they were involved in supporting the project. Thanks to the @pahumanities team for capturing the group photo.

📢 Festival of Combustion Recap Video Alert! ⚠️

One of the biggest Festival of the year were we bring out all the bells and whistles! Every year we add more and more to this event. Working with @longjonengel coordinating the time line of the event and working with the other performers of the event really brought things together. We started our day as tall Phoniex Ladies and brought extra props for everyone to play with. @eagleburgerband march across the Festival and we join in for a couple of song. Once we enter the fire circle the Fire show went off!! @ladybeastofficial started there set and we were feeding each other our fire. Of course with a special surprise we got backed on stilts and did out secret set. Special shout out to Kyle and Darnell assisting us and keeping us safe!! We love all the pictures, videos and tags you have been sharing with us show us your POV of the festival. We can't thank you enough!!! Until Next Year ✨️

This past weekend Dnapps Productions collaborated with @riversofsteel on capturing photography of their annual Festival Of Combustion event! There were lots of interesting activities, art, history, and performances to help fill my camera roll with tons of memorable photos! The weather was perfect as well so ending the night with fireworks capped a successful weekend of being back in Pittsburgh! Looking forward to more collaborations this upcoming fall!
