I just want to take a moment to show some recognition to my young guys at the high school and college levels who have been BALLING OUT all season long! 💯🏈

From making big plays to earning new accolades, breaking records, and accomplishing goals, these young men have been putting in work and making things happen on the field. As a coach, there’s nothing better than seeing the hard work, dedication, and preparation translate into success on game day.

I’m proud of these guys, and I want to make sure their accomplishments don’t go unnoticed. This is what it’s all about — growth, development, and seeing your guys succeed at the highest level possible.

Keep going, fellas! The season isn’t over, and there’s still more to accomplish! 💪🏾🔥

One of the most underrated drills for defensive backs is the side run into different angle breaks. It’s a simple drill, but it exposes one of the biggest weaknesses a lot of DBs have. Too many guys can run fast in a straight line, but when it’s time to break at an angle, they struggle because they don’t know how to properly distribute their weight, sink their hips, and drop their center of gravity.

The side run into angle breaks teaches body control, balance, and efficient change of direction. It helps DBs learn how to stay under control while moving at speed and explode in and out of breaks without wasting steps. If you want to become a better defensive back, this drill needs to be prioritized because game-changing plays happen in those transitions. The players who master their weight distribution and hip sink are the ones who separate themselves from everyone else.

Today was a great day of work. We had 7 DBs from 7 different schools come together for one quality session, all with the same goal—to get better. Different backgrounds, different teams, different experiences, but when it was time to work, everybody competed, pushed each other, and got valuable reps in.

🌧️ Rain wasn’t stopping no motion 💪🏾

Today we got some good quality reps in and cleaned up a lot of the little things that are going to matter once football camp starts. Every rep counts right now — technique, effort, communication, and discipline. Summer is almost over, so now it’s about sharpening everything up, building confidence, and making sure we’re prepared to compete at a high level when camp begins. We’re getting better every day, and the work is starting to show.

It’s a DB party 🎈

Today we locked in on those quick, twitchy movements that every defensive back needs when defending at the top of routes. That part of the route is where separation is created or taken away, and if your feet are slow or your eyes are late, the receiver wins. We focused on sudden reactions, efficient footwork, and being able to stay balanced while changing direction at full speed.

The goal is to train the body to react without hesitation — quick feet, controlled hips, and explosive breaks on the ball. Those small movements make a huge difference when it’s time to compete. Great DBs don’t just run fast, they move efficiently and stay in position when the route gets violent at the top.

It’s a DB Party 🎈

We got back out to the field today and put that DB work back in. No shortcuts, no excuses — just straight technique, footwork, hips, breaks, and competing at a high level. Every rep matters when you’re trying to become a better defensive back. The little details separate average from elite, and today was all about sharpening those details and continuing to grow together. The grind never stops.

Playing defensive back isn’t just about being athletic — it’s about mastering the fundamentals and trusting the progression of your training. Every great DB starts with the basics: stance, footwork, hips, eyes, leverage, and break mechanics. If you skip the fundamentals, your game will always have holes in it no matter how talented you are.

It’s a DB Party 🎈

Today was a straight DB party. Great energy, great competition, and even better learning. Everybody got a chance to sharpen their breaks, open up their hips, clean up their footwork, and grow their overall IQ for the game. It wasn’t just about making plays — it was about understanding why and how to make them. When you put a group of defensive backs together all pushing each other to get better, that’s where real development happens. Iron sharpens iron, and today everybody leveled up.
