👀 15 years old. Signed by adidas. What does that actually mean? RJ Evans (Class of 2029) just became the latest young player to sign with adidas Basketball. He’s a 6’5”+ guard out of Academy of Central Florida, the son of former NBA player Reggie Evans, and he’s been ranked among the top 3 players nationally in his class. This summer he stood out in front of NBA scouts at the revived adidas ABCD Camp. Parents, here’s what you’re probably wondering 👇 ❓ Is this a pro contract? No. It’s an NIL deal: Name, Image & Likeness. RJ is still an amateur. adidas is paying to partner with his personal brand, not hiring him as a pro. ❓ How much is he getting? Not disclosed. Top high school deals can range from free gear to six figures, depending on the player’s ranking, social following and marketability. ❓ What does a deal like this usually include? • adidas shoes and apparel • Appearing in ads and social campaigns • Posting content and wearing the brand • Access to adidas camps and events • Payment (amount varies) ❓ How can a 15-year-old sign a contract? Minors can’t sign alone. A parent or guardian signs, and families should always have a sports attorney review the deal. ❓ Does adidas control where he goes to college? Not officially. But parents should read the fine print on exclusivity, especially if a future college team is sponsored by a different brand. ❓ Does this hurt his eligibility? Not when it follows his state’s high school rules. Every state is different. Check with your school before signing anything. ❓ Why are brands signing kids this young? Brands are moving earlier to build relationships with future pros. adidas has already sent high school signees to the NBA Draft. 💡 The real lesson: brands find players who are already putting in the work. Skill. Discipline. Character. That’s what gets you noticed. Dream big. Prepare daily. 🏀 #NationalSuperShowcase #FloridaVipers #NIL #Class2029 #YouthBasketball adidasBasketball
