I really enjoyed my time speaking at Providence Catholic in New Lenox. The student athletes were focused, respectful, and fully engaged throughout the presentation. I hope they took something valuable away from it. Big thanks to @rj3foundation and @hudah89 for organizing, and it was great catching up with Principal Paul Houston from my Lyons Township days. Much appreciated!

Excited to Speak at @pchs_celtics on Tuesday with @thesweteffect. I think it has potential to be very beneficial for their students. And if it starts to go south, I have the perfect plan in mind. #themaleyway #mentalhealth #providencecatholichighschool #billymadison

Noah Jefferson shared some powerful insight about athletes and mental health. In sports, hard work, dedication, and culture often lead to emotions being bottled up. I have seen it myself over the years as both an athlete and a coach. Too often, the athletes and students who appear to be thriving are the ones we overlook. But success does not mean someone is free from struggle.

The origins of the RJ3 Foundation are heartbreaking, but the mission Noah Jefferson has built is inspiring. He not only works to keep his brother’s legacy alive but also focuses on helping other young athletes face their own mental health struggles.

When Noah and I spoke, he made an important point: it is not just about raising awareness or breaking the stigma around mental health. It is also about connecting athletes directly to resources that can help them. That hit me, because so much of my own story centers on awareness and stigma, and I sometimes forget the next step of pointing people to the tools and professionals that are already out there.

Noah also highlighted something that resonated deeply with me. In sports culture, athletes are often taught to suppress emotions, to fight through pain instead of asking for help. Changing that culture is exactly why the RJ3 Foundation’s mission matters so much.

The episode featuring RJ3 Foundation’s founder Noah Jefferson is now available on all streaming platforms. The video can be found on The Maley Way YouTube channel. The first thing I discovered about Noah’s brother, Ryan Jefferson, was a tribute video created by Youth Prospects. It is available on YouTube and can also be found on the RJ3 Foundation’s website. It is heartbreaking, but I believe it explains “The Why” behind the RJ3 Foundation. Not only is Noah working to keep the memory of his brother alive, but he is also striving to eliminate stigma and ensure that future athletes like Ryan have access to the mental health resources they need. #mentalhealth #rj3foundation #stigma #brothers

This was an absolutely heartbreaking story, but I appreciate Noah Jefferson’s willingness to create something good out of unimaginable family tragedy. Noah’s brother Ryan was a star baseball player at Providence Catholic High School and a University of Illinois commit. Just months after accepting his scholarship, he took his own life. The world never had the chance to see where his talent would take him.

In response, Noah started the RJ3 Foundation to honor his brother’s memory. The mission of the foundation is to erase stigma and help connect young athletes with mental health resources. Hear and see my conversation with Noah on Tuesday.

In this video I analyze personality traits such as neuroticism and conscientiousness and their relationship with mental health. Mental health in training/sports is something I view as one of the most important topics, but also one of the least talked about topics. Thank you for watching!

The brothers of Acacia had an amazing weekend of philanthropy! On Friday we co-hosted S’more Wishes with @wiscochiomega where we sold s’mores and hot chocolate to benefit @makeawishwisconsin. On Sunday, we participated in a polar plunge to benefit the @rj3foundation which was founded by Acacia Alumni, Noah Jefferson. In the combined two events, we raised over $3000! #SoLive
