A month later, and I’m still thinking about this gathering. 🥹 The deepest spiritual practices—whether astrology, Buddhism, yoga, Christianity or any other tradition rooted in relationship and responsibility—don’t pull us away from the world. They return us to it: more porous, more accountable, more in love, and more willing to fight for our interconnected liberation. 🕸️ In a moment engineered to make us feel overwhelmed, powerless, afraid and alone, spending a day with hundreds of organizers, artists, healers, storytellers, and glorious troublemakers felt like a reminder of one of the most ancient truths: Community is still our greatest technology. AI could simply never. 💅🏼 Some field notes—and fire fits—from @chaninicholas @chani.app’s beautiful Astrology for Activists workshop that have stayed with me. Gratitude, as ever. May we keep finding one another. ✨

The past few weeks (years?) have felt like a collision of the unbearable and the breathtaking. Food assistance used as a political pawn. Libraries closing. Children dying on migration routes. A billionaire inching toward becoming the first trillionaire. Palestinian filmmakers stitching beauty from rubble. Communities refusing to look away. When you zoom out, the pattern sharpens: all of these struggles are entwined, our freedom braided. We break the spell by naming it. We build new worlds by insisting on care. May we stay awake. May we stay tender. May we stay ungovernable to despair. (Also: Rosalía’s new album. 😭🔥)

Half a year into a late-stage capitalist, supremacist hellscape, and my heart is fuller—despite it, because of it.
For every hand held, every hug that lingered,
every laugh that cracked open a new kind of knowing. I’ve grown in wild gardens and quiet corners.
Wept in safe arms. Danced in ancient light.
I’ve been held—really held—by people and places that remind me
why I keep saying yes to this life—with an open palm. Yes, I’ll take it all. As James Baldwin said,
“The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love—whether we call it friendship or family or romance — is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light.” To every one and every sacred somewhere that softened me this year:
thank you.
Here’s to the great becoming—and resisting everything that dares to keep us small.

2024 was a year filled with community, care, and softness—and also deep pain, sorrow, and reckoning. A year when the death throes of late-stage capitalist empire, epitomized in the ongoing genoc!de in Palestine, felt unbearable. A year when personal and collective darkness demanded we mine for meaning and remember who we are. James Baldwin said it best, always:
“The longer I live, the more deeply I learn that love — whether we call it friendship or family or romance — is the work of mirroring and magnifying each other’s light. Gentle work. Steadfast work. Life-saving work in those moments when life and shame and sorrow occlude our own light from our view, but there is still a clear-eyed loving person to beam it back. In our best moments, we are that person for another.” This carousel (part one of many in the coming days; bear with me—I was a bad triple Leo and neglected to feed the algorithm this year 😅) holds faces and moments that steadied me through it all. From Greece to Boríken, from NYC and Arkansas to Morocco—thank you for being my mirrors, my magnifiers, my reminders of the light within and beyond. And thank you for being my fellow miners, who plumb the depths of the underrated delicious darkness. Even and especially in the shadow of loss and injustice, we find and create love. Gentle work. Life-saving work. Here’s to more lifting of the veil and remembering our birthrights—joy and sovereignty—in 2025. 💫

🤩🤩🤩 The pause was necessary and the community was needed. Bringing in the new season in this tone, was so perfectly aligned in so many ways. I am still in processing and beyond appreciative for everyone that chose themselves and created an intentional Pause in community. When you take care of yourself, you take care of others. “Regaining peace and strength with each and every breath.” We can’t wait to Pause with you again in 2024… (stay tuned for dates!) And for now, we prepare to bring this same incredible energy and presence to our October Peru Retreat! Thank you thank you thank you Xo ⏸️Please tag yourself and the community if we missed you! 📸 @josh.hoang @krissyg_yoga @jwanz86 @sheis_natasha_elizabeth @teacheralesson @kallieknobwellness @gentle_chili_flake @asia.rose.irgangladen @valarie__98 @thejasminesmith @mettamats @ohheyjo_ @cheesemistakenshake @raymaria @siddeeqahlove @lianasqueendom @ashholcombe #pausedaytreat #pause #equinox #phillyretreat #retreats #journaling #community
