Documenting a profession is also documenting a way of life.

My name is Sathiyan.
I work in the field of Wedding Photography. While I love capturing the beautiful and emotional moments of weddings, I also have a deep interest in documenting the lives of people, traditional occupations, and the stories that exist around us.

As part of this passion, I have been exploring different traditional occupations and spending time with the people who continue to keep these livelihoods alive.

My first documentary project begins from a place very close to my heart my hometown, Antoniyarpuram, in Thoothukudi district.

Palmyra palm-related work has been carried out here for many years. It is an occupation that has been passed down from one generation to another and has been closely connected with the lives of the people in this region.

I have lived in this place for many years. Yet, despite growing up here, I realized that I did not know enough about this traditional occupation or about the people whose lives are connected to it.

That realization made me look at my own hometown differently.

Seeing a Palmyra palm is one thing.
Understanding the life built around that palm is something entirely different.

The hard work, knowledge, traditions, experiences, and everyday lives of these people are what I wanted to observe and document through my camera.

This documentary photography series is not simply about the Palmyra palm industry.

It is a small attempt to introduce a way of life that exists around us to a wider audience and perhaps preserve its story for the generations to come.

What inspired me most was the fact that a traditional occupation that has existed in my own hometown for generations is still not widely known, even among many people who live here.

That is why I wanted to document this story.

This is more than just their occupation.

Through this documentary photography series, I hope to bring the lives I have witnessed and experienced closer to a wider audience.

A photograph does not always preserve just a moment.
Sometimes, it preserves the story of an entire generation.

short spiritual lines, Narmada river vibes, and deep Mahadev quotes like "Some places don't need long captions, Omkareshwar says it all", "Where the Narmada flows and Om glows," and "Finding peace where the holy 'Om' takes shape."

Minimalism🤍

Collaboration #3

This time, a few fellow photographers and I came together to share the beauty of minimalism in photography.

Minimalism isn't just about empty space—it's about seeing beauty in simplicity. The moon, birds, raindrops, flowers, and everyday moments all become art when viewed from a different perspective.

Every photograph in this collaboration tells a simple yet powerful story. Thank you to all the photographers who shared their beautiful frames and perspectives. ✨

Frame Within a Frame 🖼️📸

Collobration #1 ✨

A collaboration where every photographer interpreted the same concept through their own unique perspective.

I invited my photographer friends to capture
"Frame Within a Frame" in their own way—and this is what they created. ✨

It's fascinating how a single idea can unfold into so many different stories. Every frame reveals another frame, and every photograph reflects a unique way of seeing the world.

One theme. Different eyes. Infinite perspectives. Endless stories. 📸❤️

Thank you for the collaboration!
