Thank you to everyone who joined us at Cecil B. Moore Library for our ceramic alar building event! We created some really beautiful pieces, learned about altars, and made our own herbal headwashes with @potters_of_color_podcast and Ona McGovern. Thanks to @playcousins.philly for providing some great vibes and to @tabellanera for the really yummy food. We’ll be posting updates of the ceramics when they’re out the kiln, and everyone who created a piece should look out for an follow-up email about your work! Catch us in 2024 at @bydorianadiaz “In-Between Spaces” for Heritage Hangout, a meet and greet for Black memory and heritage preservation workers on January 25th at the Parkway Central Library. Hope to see yall in the new year ❤️ Photos by @striving2see

While defending my thesis, since I had no classes, I decided to do an internship through @blackmuseums and boy was it was a fruitful experience! They hosted me at @maaalosangeles where I was tasked to write bios for artists for their collections including my favorite Hale Woodruff, Jacob Lawrence, and Gordon Parks. To cap off the end of the program, myself, as well as other interns, museum directors, curators, and art historians, represented in many Black insititutions in America, all met up in Nashville for this years conference. Such a memorable experience and it reassured me so much as I transition from studying and teaching in grad school to working back in the field. Got to connect with great people who are friends, got free head shots, flicked up with the director of the smithsonian Lonnie Bunch, help run a booth that focuses on the artist who created the first sculpture of mlk,as well as see a bunch of great art. When you walk in the spirit of humility and in good faith God always will create rooms that will cultivate and bless you! Gotta go to this conference every year now!
