“I didn’t want to be a burden.”

That’s something Jamie says in this clip, and it’s probably something a lot of men going through prostate cancer, or any serious illness, will understand.

You convince yourself that staying quiet is protecting the people around you. That they’ve already got enough to deal with. That you’ll just get on with it yourself.

But as Jamie says, talking helps.

Whether it’s your partner, your family, a mate, or somebody who’s been through prostate cancer themselves, you don’t have to carry everything in your own head.

Jamie’s @rla_heating full story is available now on The Talking Tradesman Podcast, on all available platforms.

And if you know somebody who might need to hear this, send it their way.

44 places up. 👀📈

The Talking Tradesman has climbed to #188 in the UK Apple Podcasts Mental Health chart, with another ranking climbing 16 places to #232.

For an independent podcast built around real conversations, real experiences and getting people talking about the stuff we too often keep to ourselves, I’ll take that all day long.

No massive production company. No huge marketing budget. Just good people trusting me with their stories, and you lot continuing to listen, watch and share them.
And this week it’s great to see so many people hearing @rla_heating Jamie’s story - #getchecked

Thank you. 💚

We keep going. 🎙️

If this podcast does nothing else, I hope it inspires somebody to book a PSA test.

If you’re a man over 40, start the conversation.

1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime. That risk increases with age, and it’s higher again if you have a family history or if you’re a Black man.

And here’s the scary part: prostate cancer often causes no symptoms in its early stages.

A PSA test is a simple blood test. It isn’t perfect and it doesn’t diagnose cancer on its own, but it can help identify when further investigation might be needed.

So if you’re 40+, speak to your GP about your risk and whether a PSA test is appropriate for you.

And if this reel actually makes you book one, tell me in the comments. 👇

I want to know if these conversations are actually making men take action.

Jamie from @rla_heating shares his full experience with prostate cancer on this week’s episode of The Talking Tradesman Podcast, available NOW on all platforms.

If one bloke gets checked because of this episode, it’s done its job.

“What did they say?”
“I don’t know… I can’t remember.”

Jamie @rla_heating had just walked out of the doctor’s after being told he had prostate cancer.

He rang his wife. She asked the obvious question, what had the doctor said?

But beyond those words, “you’ve got cancer”, everything else was a blur.

That moment is exactly why this episode matters.

Prostate cancer often causes no symptoms in its early stages, so knowing your risk matters. (nhs.uk)

You’re at increased risk if you’re:
• Over 50
• Black, particularly from an African or Caribbean background
• Have a father or brother who has had prostate cancer
• Have certain inherited genetic risks or a strong family history of related cancers (nhs.uk)

If you fall into a higher-risk group, or you’re worried about your risk, speak to your GP about whether a PSA blood test is appropriate for you. (nhs.uk)

Don’t wait for symptoms to give you a reason.

Jamie’s full story is available NOW on The Talking Tradesman Podcast, on all platforms.

If this episode makes even one man book that conversation with his GP, it’s done its job.

One check could save your life.

Tomorrow’s episode of The Talking Tradesman is about more than one man’s story.

@rla_heating

Jamie from RLA Heating opens up about his experience with prostate cancer, from diagnosis to treatment, and why getting checked early matters.

Men are notoriously good at putting things off, especially when it comes to our health. This is one thing that isn’t worth ignoring.

If this episode encourages even one bloke to speak to his GP and get checked, it’s done its job.

🎙️ Jamie’s full story is available from 6am tomorrow on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and all major podcast platforms.

Don’t wait for symptoms. Don’t assume you’re fine. Get checked.

“Then he said the words nobody ever expects to hear… you’ve got cancer.”

Tomorrow’s episode is about more than one man’s story.

Jamie from @rla_heating sits down with me and talks openly about the moment his consultant told him he had prostate cancer, what followed, and why he now wants other men to take their health seriously.

Because the numbers are huge.

More than 64,000 men are diagnosed every year.

And perhaps most importantly, early prostate cancer often has no symptoms at all.

So don’t wait until something feels wrong. Know your risk, and if you’re concerned, speak to your GP about whether a PSA blood test is right for you.

If this episode encourages even one bloke to have that conversation, it’s done its job.

🎙️ Jamie’s full story is available from 6am tomorrow on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube and all major podcast platforms.
