We failed to keep up with #postracepastry this season... But luckily there's more racing in our future! Our season officially ended at 70.3 LaQuinta/Indian Wells leaving a lot to be desired. While here we found this hidden gem of a coffee shop @rmc.offee . Phillipe is passionate about his pastries and coffee and it certainly shows in his product. Just look at these works of art!!! We selected a kouign-amann, pistachio chocolate roll, chocolate croissant, and apple turnover. We just don't have words for how good these were. Phillipe told us he doesn't take short cuts - and it shows. Do yourself a favor and visit him at RM Coffee ! And while you're there pick up a Kouign-Amann and a Spinach Feta Pastry (not pictured). We will absolutely be back next year for race redemption and more pastries from Phillipe!

RM COFFEE

Cold Brew +2 shots

Locally owned coffee shop with a nice quiet location. Owner was amazing and passionate about his shop. I had their cold brew with an extra 2 shots. It was very smooth even with the freshly pulled espresso you could hardly taste any bitterness. They brew small batches overnight and are ready to go by the following day. It wasn’t the most caffeinated coffee but it also isn’t their intention. They executed a great tasting cold brew perfect for hot days. Overall 8/10

RM COFFEE

My sister once told me something to the effect of “you don’t go to a steakhouse for salads.” If a place specializes in something, especially if it’s in the name of the business, don’t purchase the item that is NOT their specialty. Well, sissy, I’ve found the exception!

RM Coffee @rmc.offee is on Hwy 111, in Rancho Mirage (hence the RM in the name!). (next to Catalan and in the same shopping center as the Rock Shop.)

Confession- I’m not a coffee drinker! When Lauren (@ladyblanish) suggested meeting for coffee, I may (or may not) have been selfish in choosing a place! I like trying a place that is new to me, so when I saw they had pastry, I suggested this place! The owner, Philippe Pierre Morlot, has been in the area since the 80s and was the original owner of The French Corner Cafe. I’m not one to give food tips, but…. when you get pastries, get them fresh! Everyone knows that food is best when served fresh from the oven. Day old food is not the same. Well, Philippe makes these goodies FRESH each day! You know the saying, “like a kid in a candy shop”? Let’s change that to “like an adult in Philippe’s pastry shop”!! I decided to live with no boundaries or restrictions, so I may (or may not) have ordered every pastry that called my name! Philippe started with a small bag, then said, “Wait! How many are you getting? Let’s get a BOX!” Smart move!

I feel like there were subliminal messages everywhere! Pictures of Frank Sinatra everywhere, with music playing! Ol’ Blue Eyes singing “The Coffee Song,” “All or Nothing At All,” Let Me Try Again,” “You Make Me Feel so Young”... You realize later, “Those songs talked me into ordering EVERYTHING!” If it’s not the music, it’s the visuals of “sweet” treats or all of the credit cards posted that nudge you to spend everything you’ve got! Go for yourself, you’ll see!
