this is what the inside of my brain looks like (crab legs, seafood boils, cornhole, a salted rim on a cocktail, a pretty little sunset, the moon, my friends and my family) 🧚‍♂️🍋🍸🪩📸

Warning: emotional/sappy post 🙂

There’s no way to explain what it feels like going into the first memorial day weekend in eight years without walking into Headliner.

For seven summers, fresh at 21 years old, that place was more than a job to me - and so many others. It was my second home, my routine, my chaos, my comfort, my identity, and somehow one of the biggest parts of my life story. This would’ve been my eighth summer behind the bar running around from Friday through Monday from 7 PM until sunrise with my best friends attached at the hip, making memories, seeing all of our friends, and making money we swore we’d never forget.

And now it’s just gone.

What Tom Sueta built was so much bigger than a nightclub. He built a family. A real one. The kind of family that laughs until they cry, screams at each other during staff meetings, then goes out to dinner with 30+ people right after like nothing happened. The kind of family that spends holidays together, vacations together, survives, losses together, celebrates wins together, and somehow always shows up for each other, no matter what.

Coming from someone who’s an only child with small family, Headliner gave me something I’ll never be able to properly put into words. I met some of the most important people in my life there. I met my life Long best friends there. I met my boyfriend there. I met DJs I grew up listening to that somehow became actual friends. I experienced the highest highest of my 20s there.

The laughs, the tears, the after hours talks, the chaos, the late night food runs, the DoorDashes, the packed dance floors, the food, the music, the exhaustion, the absolute insanity of those summers… There will truly never be anything like it again.

We grew up together in that building.

To every bartender, server, barback, security guard, DJ, manager, regular, customer, promoter, photographer, videographer, entertainer, and every single person who walked through those doors over the years - thank you.
