Day 256 / 365
Cirrus clouds, thin icy streaks high in the atmosphere.
Below them, the local pond: mirror-still water and a little morning fog.

Coming Soon!

The Royal Meteorological Society (RMetS) and The D-Day Story are delighted to be developing a new upper primary cross-curricular resource inspired by the film Pressure (in cinemas now).

Pupils will discover how weather forecasts helped shape the outcome of D-Day and explore the importance of weather in our everyday lives. Interested in piloting the resource? We'd love to hear from you. Contact educationdds@portsmouthcc.gov.uk to get involved.

A still night over Carew Castle, looking back at some shots taken during a mid August night.

The sky opened just enough for the Perseid meteor shower to streak across the violet haze — one bright trail over the old stones, and me out exploring again.

Thilled to have received Pressure Award from @rmets_ for this photograph at Seaham taken in February. It was chosen by the Director/Co-Writer and editor Anthony Maras from this year's entries to the International Weather Photographer of the Year. He was looking for a dramatic/cinematic image in keeping with the film. As photographers we all look to weather forecasts for the trivial tasks of planning our shots, this film tells the true story of how forecasters used their skills , under enormous pressure, to guide the decisions around D-Day , the consequences of which impacted on the lives of millions of people, including my Dad who was serving in the RAF.
