POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

A week later and we are still reminiscing. Some of these relationships span 20+ years, and somehow, the love only gets deeper. Through every season, every chapter, and every Homecoming, we keep finding our way back to each other. The hugs last a little longer, the smiles tell a thousand stories, and the joy is a reminder of just how blessed we are to have shared so much life together.

The Brunch is a love story, it’s history, it’s family. And if you’ve ever been in that room, you know. Sending my love, always. 💙❤️

Started off the homecoming festivities by attending a screening about heart health and ATTR. Over the past couple weeks I’ve had several friends suffer, cardiac arrest, and it has heighten my sensitivity to the need for more preventative care in our communities. You might call me crazy, but I employ you to schedule an appointment with your cardiologist! It doesn’t matter how healthy you are and truly doesn’t even matter how old you are, you should have an understanding of your cardiac health. It’s also extremely important to find out as best as you can your family health history. This was such an informative session spearheaded by Dr. Roger Mitchell. Bison at it again!

Just throw my legs in the trash at this point. But, it was all worth it. I am plum tickled at the fun we had this weekend. Until next year!

Kudos to the Xavier-Ochsner College of Medicine on receiving their accreditation to recruit a class in 2027! The local, regional and national leaders of the @snma_official and @nationalmedassn are proud supporters of this incredible initiative. #HBCU #medicalschool #louisiana

We brought our sneakers. The Bison brought the ENERGY. 🦬🔥

Howard Homecoming’s Fit for Life Run & Walk gave us a little bit of everything—movement, laughter, familiar faces, and a warmup that could’ve turned into a whole party. 😂💃🏾

Some ran. Some walked. Everybody had a little time to catch up with their people. From alumni reconnecting to the little Bison joining in, this was family in motion. 💙❤️

Here’s to taking care of ourselves so we can keep coming HOME for years to come.

This is Home. This is Howard.

Good to be with these brothers AJ Calloway and Dr. Roger Mitchell tonight. Dr. Ugo Egolum got in the frame too! Black men deserve to be well and to be here for years to come. @ajcalloway @rmitch_jr

Howard Homecoming is HERE and I’m looking forward to seeing y’all! It’s Be Moore, and here are the events that I’m producing this weekend:

🏃🏾‍♂️ Friday morning: Fit for Life 5K Fun Run at the Anacostia Rec Center. Free parking, 25+ vendors, Zumba warmup, and DJ Maceo from De La Soul on the ones and twos. You don’t HAVE to run it, walk it! Hair be darned, let’s be in community together.

🎤 Saturday 12pm: I’m moderating a panel with De La Soul at the alumni tent on the yard. Space is limited, so I’m not saying you’re gonna miss it if you miss it... but you’re gonna miss it if you miss it.

🥂 Sunday: Urban Elegance brunch at Throw Social on Okie Street.

Love you all. Comment below and let me know which events you’re coming through for! ✊🏾🦬

“Black people don’t hang themselves.” Fact or fiction?

Angela Rye challenges the myth as forensic pathologist @rmitch_jr explains why every hanging must be investigated as a potential homicide before suicide is determined.

This year at Howard Homecoming we’ll be host to one of the greatest Hip Hop groups of all time.
De La Soul will join us in the DAR/HUAA Alumni tent on the yard on Saturday, October 17th at noon for an intimate discussion (read: super limited space, but don’t trip. We’ll record and share it.) We’ll talk about their career to date, what they’re building now, and how their journey is shaping their music and their business.

Be sure to join your local HUAA club, and update your contact with the Department of Alumni Relations.

We’ll see you on the yard.
