Graphic novel scripting has nuances that are hard to master, but once writers do, they produce incredible works. Learning this form also helps with other types of writing, especially descriptive prose writing. Students will walk away with a new writing skill set that will help them in any area of writing.

This is a workshop class where we will first go over the basic methods of graphic novel scripting, and then write 2-3 "issues" of a graphic novel (about 44-66 pages).

Roman Colombo completed his MFA in Fiction at Rosemont College in 2010, and has since taught various writing classes at colleges all over Philadelphia, including Creative Writing at Penn State Brandywine, and classes in writing graphic novels, screenplays, and stage plays for Rosemont College's MFA program. His first novel, Trading Saints for Sinners, was published in 2014 by WragsInk. His work has also been featured in The Bookends Review, Rusty Nail, monkeybicycle, Comic Years, and more.

I want to wish the very happiest birthday this week to my dear friend, Natala. We’ve only been friends for five or so years, and yet I can’t possibly imagine my life without you OR @rncolombo. 🥰 You are one of the most generous, thoughtful, resilient, optimistic, and compassionate people I’ve ever known. You have a knack for making the everyday feel so special, and always find reasons to celebrate life and friendship. You also push me to be the best, most empathetic version of myself, and I’m so grateful for that. You truly light up my world and the world of everyone who is privileged enough to call you their friend. Thank you for being my adopted sister and the best auntie to our little Bug. ❤️ I love you so much!!! #HBD #allthelove #whenfriendsbecomeaunties

An homage to some of the amazing family and friends who have showered our babe with love. And a broader thanks to all of you who have sent clothes, toys, and gift cards, provided meals, come to visit, and checked in and supported us. It really does take a village, and we have a freaking infantry (pun intended 🙈)❤️❤️❤️ #fiocochran #ittakesavillage #grateful

Since I can only tag 20 people per Instagram post, I want to thank each person individually by tagging them to the book(s) to which they contributed. Here’s to those who read from Book 5, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and the book that taught me the power of solidarity. 🖤
