🔥 FREAK FEST BAND SPOTLIGHT 🔥

Let’s introduce the first three bands hitting the Freak Fest stage October 10! 🤘

🥛 @melk_rva — 5:25 PM

Coming out of Richmond, Melk brings heavy riffs, intricate rhythms and an experimental edge. They’re technical, different and HEAVY. Get there early because these guys are kicking off the entire festival!

⚒️ @sundyrband — 6:20 PM

Sundyr is a three-piece doom metal band from the D.C. area bringing a crushing mix of doom, sludge, death-metal influence and stoner doom. Big riffs, heavy grooves and a MASSIVE sound.

🔥 @rnot_band — 7:15 PM

R-NOT keeps Freak Fest rolling into the night! If you haven’t checked them out yet, now’s the time. One of the best parts of Freak Fest is discovering a band you haven’t heard before and leaving as a new fan.

Go follow Melk, Sundyr and R-NOT, check out their music and come show them some love October 10!

One of the things we’re most excited about with Freak Fest this year is just how different these six bands are from each other.

This isn’t six bands getting on stage and giving you six versions of the same sound. Every time the stage changes over, the night is going somewhere a little different.

@melk_rva is kicking the whole thing off and setting the tone for the night. If you’re somebody who likes discovering bands you haven’t seen before, get there early. Don’t be the person walking through the gates halfway through the first set.

Then you’ve got @sundyrband bringing a much darker and heavier sound. They blend doom, sludge, death metal and stoner-doom influences — slower crushing sections, heavy atmosphere and the kind of riffs that just feel BIG.

@rnot_band comes up next and keeps the night moving in another direction. This is one of the things we wanted when putting this lineup together — bands with their own identity instead of trying to fill six slots with the exact same style.

Then @iamtheliquorrva takes over. These guys bring that dirty, heavy, riff-driven stoner rock/doom sound. Big grooves, heavy guitars and music that makes you want to stand there and bang your head.

Later in the night, @catharsisrva brings melodic metalcore into the mix. You’re getting heaviness and breakdowns, but also melody, memorable choruses and some seriously tight musicianship.

And then Savage Theory closes the night. We’re bringing our mix of nu-metal, hard rock and hip-hop — heavy riffs, rap, melody, aggression and the energy we’ve built this band around. If you’re into bands like Linkin Park, P.O.D., Korn or From Ashes to New, you’ll understand where some of our DNA comes from.

That’s what we love about this year’s Freak Fest.

You might walk in wearing one band’s shirt and leave talking about a completely different band you had never heard before.

🔥 Six bands. Six different sounds. One stage. 🔥
